| Quality |
| Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable? |
| Yes, it is made well. Just need to be careful with it; I saw a few used ones for sale online where people scratched or dented the front cover, and that can basically ruin the appearance. |
|
| Features |
| What do you consider to be the best features of this product? What features would you add to this product if you could? |
| The light is bright and does offer a wide variety of capabilities. I know I'm missing out on quite a bit by not having a DMX controller. The manual spends more space talking about DMX than anything else, which is great for DMX users, but it's a shame for those not yet using DMX. |
|
| Ease of Use |
| How easy is this product to use? How easy is the product to use with other products? Did it take long for you to learn to use this product? Was the manual helpful? How playable do you consider this product to be? |
| Using this light is as easy as plugging it in and it works. It's bright and you don't "need" an external controller, as there are 8 "shows" pre-programmed at the factory. But the manual doesn't have ANY description of the 8 shows, you literally have to sit there and go through each one, watching them all to try to tell the differences. It's also difficult to change "shows" without a controller because the buttons are on the unit itself, which can be tricky once the light's up high on a stand. Last but not least, I was disappointed with the lack of guidance on the proper way to attach the light to a stand. I fiddled with this for over an hour when I first got it, as the very few places the light offers for mounting didn't match up with the available holes on my lighting stand. In the end, I wound up having one of the brackets share a hole and bolt with an existing light... it works, but the LED bar is always "off-center" because there's only one place it lines-up on my stand. |
|
| Sound |
| How is the tone? |
| It's a light, it doesn't make sound. But, I'd say it does a fairly decent job at responding to sound -- in certain shows, color patterns change in response to bass beats, so it almost looks like the light was pre-programmed or is being manually operated to match up with the music. |
|
| General |
| Your general opinion of this product. |
| This was purchased at the recommendation of a friend. Despite my complaints, it really is a very good, strong, versatile light. I've used it at one gig so far, and it was a very impressive addition to my existing lights. |
|
| Value |
| Was this item an overall good value? |
| It's a little pricey considering they likely expect people to go spend even more on a DMX controller. Had been holding off on this for awhile until I discovered American Music's 3-part payment system, which made it more affordable for me. |
