AKG D112 Dynamic Bass Drum Microphone

The AKG D112 was developed for clean kick drum and bass guitar performance with a powerful, punchy sound. Absolutely free of distortion even at high sound pressure levels, very low diaphragm resonance, a relatively narrow-band rising high frequency response at 4 kHz and an extremely robust construction are the outstanding features of this microphone. This cardioid mic has a frequency response of 20-17kHz with a 4kHz rise giving it a clean up-front punch sound in the studio or on stage. Built to handle SPL of up to 168dB without a problem, even low bass sounds are clean and powerful. Plus, mid and high frequency tailoring keep the instrument clearly distinguishable in the mix. This low impedance mic comes with a stand adapter.

AKG D112 Features
  • Large-diaphragm dynamic microphone for bass instruments
  • Extremely high SPL capability
  • Classic microphone for stage and studio applications

Subject:Great Mic
Quality: Well built, I have 2 at my club and own a third for my studio.
Features: Its a mic it doesnt feature much more than tone.
Ease of Use: As long as you know how to EQ a kick drum or floor tom, you should be good. a bit of gating and compression and its one of the best.
Sound: I have used this mic for years. the only other mic that performs better is the Audix D-6. Only recently have I strayed away from my D112 to use my D-6.

"I really liked the live Chat feature. I also was very impressed with the Live product demostration video by Line 6 Variax Guitars on the Acoustic and Classical versions. This was very integral in making my decision, as was the live Chat." Nov '09
