AKG

The AKG WMS 40 Mini2 Dual Instrumental Guitar Wireless System was designed with unique HDAP (High Definition Audio Performance) technology that ensures the best possible, most realistic sound at any time. The AKG Mini2 includes an SR 40 Mini2 receiver, two HT 40 Mini handheld transmitters, a universal power supply with US/UK/EU adapters, and two AA size dry batteries.

AKG WMS 40 Mini2 Dual Instrumental Guitar Wireless System Features

  • Up to 30 hours of playtime with one single AA battery
  • Plug and Play
  • Gain control on pocket transmitter
  • Compatible with all AKG MicroMics
  • Low battery indicator
  • Smallest and lightest bodypack transmitter in its class
The Mini2 wireless system receiver provides three status LEDs each for channels 1 and 2, indicating ON/OFF status, received signal strength (RF OK), and audio clipping (AF CLIP). The volume control sets the level at the 1/4 inch output jack. Each receiver comes with a universal 12-V switched mode power supply with EU, UK, and US adapters. The illuminated ON/OFF button switches both channels on and off simultaneously.

Also featured with the AKG WMS 40 Mini2 Dual Instrumental Guitar Wireless System is the rugged HT 40 Mini handheld transmitter with ON/OFF/MUTE switch and a sturdy wire-mesh cap protecting the cardioid dynamic microphone element. Battery life is the same legendary 30 hours off a single AA battery as for the standard WMS 40 models, reducing the need to replace batteries. All WMS 40 MINI vocal and instrumental systems share the same brilliant sound and ease of use.

Quality
Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable?
Both transmitters and receiver SEEMED well made. Upon powering up, one channel was garbage right out of the box. Interference so bad it was unusable. This was obviously defective out of the box. The other transmitter worked OK. Range was good, but it did introduce some significant white noise. Tolerable.
Features
What do you consider to be the best features of this product? What features would you add to this product if you could?
The best feature is the price. 2 Channels of wireless is a bargain. If you can stand a little noise, and need a 2 transmitter/receiver setup go for it. Just keep in mind, it is entry level. I'm sure for the price, the quality is competitive.
Ease of Use
How easy is this product to use? How easy is the product to use with other products? Did it take long for you to learn to use this product? Was the manual helpful? How playable do you consider this product to be?
Very easy to use. Plug in the instrument, set the gain on the transmitter, set the volume on the receiver. GO.
Sound
How is the tone?
Overall, I did not notice any degradation of the tone (on the channel that worked)... only the white noise hiss that was added.
General
Your general opinion of this product.
If both channels worked out of the box, I'd call it a pretty decent deal. Again, it's entry level so keep that in mind. I will say again that the components really had a decent feel to them, and the AKG name gave me the confidence to try it out. Mine is going back and I'm jumping up to a Line6 digital.
