Product Description

50 watts of responsive, dynamic and versatile tone! The Albion TCT50C Guitar Combo Amplifier has 2 separate switchable channels, both featuring the same controls per channel. Channel A features the EQ circuit before the gain stages, while Channel B features the EQ after the gain stages. Both channels feature the capability of running from clean through crunch to high gain lead. But due to the different voicing provided by the EQ position, both channels have an entirely different spectral response and player's feel.

Albion TCT50C Guitar Combo Amplifier Features

  • 50 watt vacuum tube 2 channel combo amp with two EL34 and five 12AX7 tubes
  • Two 12 in. Albion Custom 8 ohm speakers wired in series for 16 ohm operation
  • Unique input stage combines the preamp tube with an FET circuit to give lower noise, higher gain, better tonality, and lower microphonics
  • Black vinyl with grey grille cloth and plum lacquered cat's eye maple trim board with gold Albion Logo
  • Channel A is pre-EQ and channel B is post-EQ for more tonal options
  • Power amp Variable Edge control is like a presence control but can boost or reduce high frequencies for a sweeter tone
  • Power amp Variable Deep control is an active graphic type circuit that works around the resonance area of the speakers to increase the punch and bass
  • Separate three-band wide range passive EQ, gain, drive, and volume knobs for Channel A and B
  • Switchable phase from plus or minus
  • Tight switch on each channel switches the low frequency voicing from deep low to a shelved high pass filter
  • Smooth switch alters the voicing from bright and attacking to a smoother less high frequency style
  • Shift switch alters the mid frequency to a different position and provides a different EQ spectrum
  • A-B channel switching and Mix mode to combine channels are available options
  • Includes footswitch for A/B channel, Mix mode, and Effects switching
  • Effects loop and adjustable solid state digital reverb
  • The power amp section can be switched between two feedback loops, open and closed loop. For raw vintage sound or a more modern tighter sound
  • The output section can also be run at 33% (approx 12 watts) of its total output power
  • Open back design with two 1/4 in. speaker outputs on the rear for plugging into other cabinets. Outputs can be switched between 8 and 16 ohms
  • Side mounted carrying handles

The TCT50C guitar combo amp sounds as good as they look. Albion uses Birch Ply for all their cabinet work utilizing interlocking panels and resonance controlling reinforcing struts. Proprietary vinyl covering and custom cabinet hardware is used throughout the range. The final touch is a piano-finish stained walnut baffle-plate giving a lustrous dark plum colored contrast to the TCT50C amp.

Albion amplifiers feature a seam-welded steel chassis to securely hold the heavy duty transformers, well supported FR4 printed circuit boards (many being double-sided PTH types) and chassis mounted valve bases. Albion designs and builds their own transformers and loudspeakers. All PCBs, wire, plastic and die-cast parts, and speaker cones are custom designed and built in house.

The TCT50C combo amp also has foot-switchable MIX circuitry that combines both channels to give a third sonic option. Although each channel has differing voicing structures they both go from clean to scream for ultimate functionality and wide tonal response. Switchable tonal options on each preamp also extend the possibilities on the TCT50C. All the Albion TCT amps also feature wide ranging power amp controls widening the tonal response even more - switchable feedback loops, Edge (presence) and Depth controls, output Phase and 33% power switching. Natural sounding digital Reverb and a series FX loop round off the amp functions.

Playability and Feel
What a surprise for 2012: delightful hand wired amp! Own this bad boy!
Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable?
My inspection and I did use a magnifying glass and a flashlight and a camera found no flaws of any kind. Only the build quality of a very expension amp like Matchless or Mesa! Absolutely solid gold!
How has it stood up over time?
I usually run my new amps nonstop for about 36 hours, and if there gonna pop they will in that window. I've had Blackstar die, Egnater die, Fender die, and Marshall die, and it was due to crappy qualty. But the good people of AMS took care of those issues quickly! So, far the TCT50C is performing perfectly.
Your general opinion of this product.
Just received the Albion TCT50C amp, and I'm really blown away with this piece of gear. It is totally responsive, and sensitive to your playing. Controls are silky smooth, and the speakers are made by Albion. I've never heard these speakers before, but my ears can tell the difference between Fane, Celestion, Eminence etc., and these Albion speakers are really insane! This amp weighs a ton at 81 lbs, and it only has side handles with none on top. So, you need to think about that when moving this beast. Comes with a cool footswitch that lets you mix both A and B channels for a blended sound. You also have a switch to drop the power to 33%, and it has a nice digital reverb thats transparent. Effects loop has a hi and low switch and is bypassable.
Playability and Feel
How does it feel, Heavy, Fast, Chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing?
I really like these major heavy duty control knobs. There are completely smooth and you can feel how industrial grade they are! Many amps have cheesy knobs and the spin rate is often a joke, but these are weighted heavy and requires effort to turn them. Really nice to super zero in on your exact tone!
Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin?
To me and this is my opinion, the tone is mouthwatering like the colonels fried chicken or your favorite BBQ. Real warm, jangly, jazzy, snappy, crispy. It really is a nice piece of gear. You can use this amp for any genre of music!
How did the stain or paint job look?
Now hear is where Albion stands apart from the usual suspect amp makers. This amp has a cool black finish with a very durable covering similiar to tolex but more refined. And it has this really lush plum color panel across the front with a gold type piping and grayish mesh grill. Really has a Jaguar or Audi look vibe to it!
