Alesis M1 Active 520 Powered Studio MonitorsThe Alesis M1 Active 520 is a newly designed, affordable, high-precision active reference monitor with Bass Density control and EQ. The M1 Active series offers incredible definition and flat frequency response from the high-precision drivers and a professionally crafted crossover. The cabinet and drivers have been redesigned for a bold new look and even greater sonic clarity.
The M1 Active 520 has a 1 inch thick front baffle, which minimizes speaker resonance, and the visually stunning acoustic waveguide evenly disperses high-frequency sound across your control room. The M1 Active includes new Bass Density technology, which allows you to tailor these monitors to any room’s acoustics. The distinctive top-mounted power/clip indicator lets you know if the speaker is clipping.
The M1 Active 520 features a 75-Watt amplifier and a 5 inch low frequency woofer, while the M1 Active 620 features a 100-Watt amplifier and 6.5 inch low frequency woofer.

| Sturdy, well made. | | Features:
| The easy access on/off switch is very helpful; you don't have to reach around back, as on some similar speakers. Protective grill covers would be nice, though they're not common on monitor speakers. | | Ease of Use:
| Simple to use. Plug 'em in and play your music. | | Sound:
| They sound great. Very crisp. Nice bass, but not overwhelming. Good, full range tone. | | Reliability:
| Too soon to tell, but I expect them to hold up well. | | Overall:
| The M1 speakers are well built, great sounding, and versatile. I use them primarily as monitors for a home studio, but they also double as speakers for my laptop and my MP3 player. | | Do you own this product?:

| | | Subject: | Monitor Speakers for $200 | | Quality:
| Quality looks fine. They have this professional image. | | Features:
| pretty loud - but lacking the deep bass. | | Ease of Use:
| I would prefer to have volume switch in the front as well as have "highs mids and bass" controllers. | | Sound:
| Highs are very nice, but as I mentioned it's lacking the deep bass. You get what you pay. But for $200 you definitely can't do better. It's a really good buy for the money. | | Reliability:
| I own it for couple months, so can't comment on reliability. | | Overall:
| Overall it's a good buy for $200, but if I could go back, I would add extra $100 or $200 and get something bigger and louder. | | Do you own this product?:
