Alesis Performance Pad with Onboard Drum Machine

The Alesis Performance Pad is a complete all-in-one percussion station.
Performance Pad features eight velocity-sensitive drum pads and a built-in electronic drum machine with professional sounds and features. You can create and record your own beats from scratch or play along with the built-in patterns. With Performance Pad, you can practice quietly with headphones, or plug into an amplifier.

Performance Pad includes inputs for a bass drum pedal, hi-hat pedal, and a Line-level input to connect a CD Player, iPod®, computer, or other audio device so that percussionists can play along with nearly any recorded mix. Built-in rhythm patterns are also included to compliment playing.

Dynamic Articulation™ technology is included to add nuance to the feel of every drum hit. In addition, there are industry-standard mounting holes on the bottom for easy attachment to an existing drum kit rack.

The 24-bit, high-quality headphone output on the Performance Pad insures a no-compromise playback experience without disturbing others. Connection to keyboards and sound modules is made simple thanks to the integrated MIDI output.

Subject:Good, but not quite there yet
Quality: Had it over a week so far...seems built well, should last. I'm a guitar player, not a drummer either...(played drums years ago in High School Band)
Features: Bought to augment the drum section in my recordings and to use patially live and as a drum machine. Is easier to play the beats on the pads with sticks rather than try to pound on little buttons on other machines. Plus you could add beats on the fly to a programmed song as it plays.
Sound: Sounds from the SR16...they're good for what I want to use for...lots useful variations and control of the sounds. Wish there sounds were dry and you could add effects as you need them, but at this price point, not a real problem.
Overall: I understand the price point thing and how you can set the pitch and panning within the machine, but I really want 'multiple outs'!...my old Roland 626 has 8 plus stereo...what a convenience! Nothing really has that anymore...ALSO...I really wish there were some easier way to store the sys-ex data...and when you CAN find a device to DO that, you can't get it back into the machine!? (there's only midi out, which can be very limiting) Why not USB and a MAC/PC librarian? (price point again I guess). I don't think the pad bounce responds all that well to rolls...kinda dead...maybe I need heavier sticks.
Value: For what it is, it's good and will fill the bill for a lot of people's uses to be sure...the Roland pads have more sounds and I assume would sound better, but they don't seem to be drum 'machines' and there are more sounds....but look at the price differential.
Appearance: Looks good, laid out well.

Subject:The Performance Pad Rock's
Quality: Absolutley! I bought a SR-16, 6 years ago and use it everyday and have never had a problem. This is the Sr-16 with Pads :D
Features: It has everything needed for whatever you would need it for. The only thing I would add to this and the Sr-16 drum machine without pads is this: They need to add more ( A-B ) channels..Like an ( A-B / C-D ) This would open more possibilities for changing patterns such as, Verse-choruse-bridge-chorus...without having to erase one to acomadate a different recorded pattern!
Sound: Awesome...absolutley realistic!
Overall: I have tried others that are several hundred dollars more and they don't come close to Alesis Performance pad or the Sr-16 drum machine!
Value: It Rock's!
Appearance: Very sleek and cool as hell!
