It contains a plug-and-play USB-audio interface which requires no drivers for use with most computers. Its CD quality 16-bit, 44.1 kHz audio output accurately captures your tape recordings for secure digital archival. Normal and high-speed dubbing modes save you time when copying your music, and dynamic noise-reduction circuitry and Alesis' software suite assist you in cleaning up aging tapes. TapeLink USB works with metal and CrO2 tapes, and contains an LED level-meter for visual-level reference. Its full auto-stop features saves your irreplaceable older tapes from breaking. The Alesis TapeLink USB cassette deck comes with a software suite containing three applications. BIAS SoundSoap SE (Standalone Edition) noise-reduction software removes hiss, room noise, rumble, electrical hum, and other background noise. Quality: I like Alesis products and have several others. There is a lot of plastic, like everything nowadays, but it seems well made. Features: The ability to go directly to computer is a real plus and why I purchased it in the first place. BEWARE!!! This doesn't have true Dolby B processing. The Dynamic Noise Reduction (DNR) feature is close, but it doesn't compare to my home audio deck. Ease of Use: Works just like all dual cassette decks from years ago, except it won't sequentially play from A to B deck. I didn't buy it for home audio so that's not a big deal. Sound: DNR processor doesn't EXACTLY decode Dolby B recordings like true Dolby. Chances are that you are archiving and your tapes are old enough to not make a difference. There are other companies that make A/D converters that you can use with a higher quality audio deck. Value: I purchased this on a New Day New Deal promotion, so the price was right.
