    Product Description

Since 1965, Alvarez has been building guitars of superlative quality and distinct character. To commemorate their 50th birthday, they wanted to make something extra special, but priced within every player's reach. The limited edition 1965 50th Anniversary models are just that - extremely affordable player's instruments bursting with thoughtful features that are the culmination of 50 years of hand-build tradition.

Alvarez ARDA1965 Dreadnought Slope Shoulder Acoustic Guitar Features

    • Solid AA Sitka Spruce Top with Acacia Koa Back and Sides
    • Shadowburst High Gloss Finish
    • Hand Scalloped FST2 Forward Shifted Bracing allows better resonance while still maintaining the body's structural rigidity
    • Mahogany Neck with Rosewood inlaid with Mother of Pearl and Abalone
    • Rosewood Bridge
    • Bone Nut and Saddle
At the heart of these instruments is a bracing technique that comes directly from the top-of-the-line Alvarez Yairi models. The FST2 bracing system in the Anniversary models is the same forward-shifted scalloped bracing found in Yairi instruments costing four times as much. This construction technique allows the solid AA Sitka spruce top to resonate more freely while still maintaining the body's structural rigidity.

The Acacia Koa back and sides add the massive low end and sweet, chiming harmonics that only koa can deliver. Alvarez's rosewood bi-level bridge puts more down-pressure on the genuine bone saddle, creating a more efficient energy transfer from the strings to the top, giving you more volume than you ever thought possible from a guitar in this price range.

Alvarez also refined their neck profile, with a thinner, faster neck that plays easier, yet still feels solid in your hands. The super high gloss Shadowburst finish is beautifully framed by real Paua abalone purfling. These are genuine, hand-laid 1/2 inch pieces of abalone - not the fabricated strips found on other guitars in this price range.

The special edition Anniversary models are some of the most well-appointed and full-featured guitars Alvarez has ever offered in this price range, but don't hesitate - these limited production guitars will only be available for a short time - get yours while you still can!

What is your opinion of this product?
I had just ordered a Taylor 214 CE Koa from AMS 3 weeks ago and was so pleased with my purchase, price and service. Love that guitar and am keeping itC! Yet, i gave away an Alvarez guitar a couple of years that I never really got over the loss! I've tried in the past to find it again, but never did. I saw this 1965 Anniversary Dread and it looked so much like the one that got away. I didn't need another guitar, but when I saw I could get it and try it at a scratch and dent price of $330 I couldnt resist. Can I tell sounds amazing. Full and crisp. Not bassy, but balanced. Beautiful detail and so easy to play. Right now i can't keep my hands off it! I reach for it over the Taylor! Couldn't be happier with the purchase!

What is your opinion of this product?
I have 16 guitars and this is near the top of the list. Stunning looks and great sound. Bought on a whim at Guitar House of Tulsa and couldn't be happier.
