Quality: This amp looks like it is made to hold up well in transit as well as at the gig. Easy to transport and load in and out of a vehicle. The top and side handles make it easy to lift and the casters make it easy to move around. The fit and finish of everything is top notch.
Features: The Tube. Your bass goes direct to the 12AU7 before it's signal reaches anything else. The Tuner. Easy to stay in tune during the show. Accurate, sensitive and stable enough to make intonation adjustments if need be. The compression horn makes the highs sound oh so smooth and it has an adjustable L-Pad to dial in the highs. Much better than a piezo horn.
Sound: When you play for the first time the amp will rattle so when you receive it make sure to tighten down every screw you can get a screwdriver on especially the 6 screws holding the amp head and the 8 screws holding the speaker. Once everything is tightened down the sound is excellent. The tube makes everything sound smooth and musical and you can dial in the EQ to get just about any kind of bass sound you want. I played this for the first time at a gig and I got a lot of compliments on the sound quality. This amp will work well in church or a small club and if you need more power and volume you could use the line out to a power amp to drive a 410 cab.
Reliability: I expect this to last a long time given reasonable care and maintenance. The tube will wear out over time so if the amp starts to sound bad it's time to change the tube. Ampeg has a 5 year warranty on this amp so not to worry.
Overall: I like it. I wish the screws holding everything together were tightened properly so the amp would be ready to go out of the box. Once tight, though, this amp will serve you well. This is my first time using an Ampeg product and so far I am pleased.
Value: I think this amp gives you everything you need in a combo with a good balance of power and tone and portability. I appreciate the Easy Payment Plan and the excellent service from AMS. The amp was double boxed and arrived in perfect condition. If you need a good professional quality bass combo amp this is one to consider.
