Product Description

Don't be fooled by its diminutive, dare we say Cute, appearance.
The Ampeg SVT Micro VR half stack is a compact powerhouse fully capable of pumping its 200 watts of genuine Round Sound into myriad live and recording situations.

The Ampeg Micro VR portable, powerful solid-state head in traditional Ampeg drag is a pleasant surprise from the second you lay eyes on it to the moment its indisputable Ampeg tone hits your ears.

The Ampeg SVT210AV is the portable alternative to a full sized SVT cab. Ideal for bleed-sensitive recording situations where the SVT810-AV can be too loud and live situations where it can be too large, the SVT210AV is designed using Ampeg's legendary Infinite Baffle system for maximum speaker efficiency and true Ampeg tone.

Big sound from a small package
What is your overall opinion of this product?
I love everything about the Micro VR / SVT210AV combination - the sound, the size, and the retro appearance. As is (the Micro VR and one cabinet) you're looking at 150 watts so it is the perfect practice / small gig setup. Add a second cabinet to get the full 200 watts and you'll be able to play somewhat larger gigs.
What is your opinion of the quality of this product? How does it work for different genres of music?
The electronics and build quality appear to be excellent. The sound is tight and full and there is no rattling. I've read some complaints about the fan noise (the Micro VR is a fan cooled MOSFET amplifier) but when I'm playing, I don't hear it, so it is a non-issue for me.
Are the features on the product what you were expecting? What are your favorite features?
The Micro VR is perfect. No effect frills (thankfully) but it has everything you need with regards to controls and input output jacks.
How is the sound quality? How does the sound compare to other products you've use?
The sound is warm, clean, and amazing. Both highs and lows are reproduced accurately. I'm looking forward to adding a second cabinet to get the most from it.
Are the controls logically laid out?
The controls are well laid out, easy to read, and functional. There is a definite difference between the low position and mid and from mid to high. Start out flat than adjust from there.
How is the tone? Distortion vs clean?
While not as warm sounding as a tube amp, the Micro VR has a warmer sound than any other solid state amp I've heard and is as true sounding as they come. What you put in comes out... louder.
Did you get what you were expecting for the price? How does it compare to similar products in the same price range?
You may find more power for the same amount of money, but not with this tone or portability. Quit playing around with cheap practice amps and get this instead.
