Subject:Legend The Dark Tower!!!!!!
Quality: Its Ampeg, what else can I say. Two tours, 135 shows, not one let down. That is the testament. Powerful from start to strong. I know a lot of people bash solid state amps but don't forget when you line out,,, but no glass to replace is nice.
Features: It has simple easy to use features that all make seance and have names that explain them selfs. There is no guess work and this amp is as easy to use as shampoo. Controls being mounted up high when played threw an 8x10 is invaluable. Every room is a little different and nothing worse then having to go back and forth from kneeling to backing up to hear if your sound is ok. You can loose more then half your crowd during the between bands tear down and set up. So do your self a favor and get something you can set up fast and then go help your drummer so you don't waist time.
Sound: This is where it is all at... There only two reasons to buy any amp. Dependability and tone. It has to work and sound good. If it doesn't do both then what's the point. This amp has both. You aren't going to be let down by the sound and it's not going to break.
Playability and Feel: It is a heavy amp, but no so heavy that you leave it at home. It can go from cab to cab with ease and has not a single hic up. Built like a tank this is an amp you can pass on to your grand kids.
Tone: Its all up to you. You want dark and heavy, you got it You want bright and snappy you got it. From funk to jazz, country to metal, and everything in between. You can dial in any thing you like in seconds.
Finish: It's black Tolex. That would be the only complaint about this amp. Mounted in a rack it would be better. Personally I keep both of mine in a live in amp cases so after years of owning them they still look great. The one advantage to the classic set up 1970's box is that you can put your San Amp sound reinforcement in the back wired into the effects loop (where it won't over power your pre amp and you get loads of super smooth power and no unwanted break up) along with a power strip, and an extension cord (seeing as no one that has ever built a stage puts enough power plugs). So what might seem like a minus turns in to a bit of a plus. It also looks amazing when paired with an Ampeg 8x10 Cab. It is the legend of the Dark Tower. (or at least thats what I call mine)
Action: You aren't going to need much to get this amp to work right. 450 watts might not sound like much in a world where amps have 2000 watts, but some how I can compete with a full drum kit, full stack and PA. Maybe some other manufactures are fibbing about their bench marks? I think so.

Subject:I can't agree w/ the other 2 reviews
Quality: This is where my problem lies. It worked for the first few times and made it 2 gigs. Then it quit. AMS asked me to take it to a dealer service center along w/ a discount.( OK I understand shipping charges) The dealer service was some guys garage 80 miles away. It wasn't a fun experiance. and now it doesn't work again. This is what happens w/ U.S.Companies send our products overseas.
Features: If it worked I'd tell you
Sound: while it worked good
Playability and Feel: while it worked, it was a good unit. just didn't work long enough to make a fair statement
Tone: while it worked, Good
Finish: Looks good, but the vinyl rips easy
Action: Plug and play w/ little Minor adjustments

Subject:A great amp for the money
Quality: It's an Ampeg, what more can be said? I bought this item from b-stock so some finish flaws were expected, however the were not any.
Features: This amp has the typical features not really any bells or whistles.
Sound: Typical Ampeg growl
Playability and Feel: The thing sounds great right out of the box!
Tone: It has a wide rage of tonal possibilities. It sounds great in the practice studio. The jury is still out on weather or not it has enough power for a large room.
Finish: Typical Ampeg tolex.
Action: Since this is an amp head, this really doesn"t apply.
