Behringer A500 Reference Studio Power Amplifier

The Behringer A500 Reference Power Amp is an ultra-linear power amplifier that's quickly becoming the top choice for recording studios and post-production work. And its amazing price is just the beginning.

The A500 provides true audiophile-grade performance that delivers 2 x 230 Watts into 4 Ohms or 500 Watts into 8 Ohms bridged, with enough overhead to always keep you on the safe side. The A500’s advanced convection-type cooling system guarantees stable, noise-free operation, while its servo-controlled design can drive virtually all passive speakers.

A precise level meter and clip indicators are provided for accurate performance monitoring. Input connections are laid out on balanced XLR, 1/4-inch TRS and RCA connectors, making sure you never run out of connectivity options. Plus, the speaker outputs give you a choice between professional touch-proof binding posts and 1/4-inch TS connectors.

To assure years of trouble-free operation, Behringer only uses the ultra-reliable Toshiba® or Fairchild® high-power transistors that are known for their rock-solid reputation. In addition to all these features, an independent thermal overload protection system with LED indicators for each channel automatically protects both your amplifier and your speakers. Last but not least, Behringer has relied on a tough high-current toroidal transformer for absolute reliability and lowest noise interference possible.

You deserve the very best in studio power amplification. Get the A500 and it will be love at first sight: it's reference-class audio, ultra-reliable quality and super-affordable!

QUALITY:
Seems to be pretty well made.

FEATURES:
Has all the features that I would want.

EASE OF USE:
What can I say... Just hook it up.

VALUE:
Outstanding value for what I am using these for. 5 seems too low a score- I would give this amp a ten!

SOUND:
Bridge mono sounds great. I haven't hooked them up in stereo.

Subject:Nice with a little quick fix.
Quality: About standard in its price range. New so will have to wait and see how dependable it will be.
Features: Gives you all types of ins and outs.
Ease of Use: Its pretty straight forward. Power amps are.
Sound: The amps RCA inputs have a preamp in them that adds gain BUT effects the sound alittle. Pick up RCA to 1/4 inch adaptors and USE the 1/4 inch inputs. A little less gain but a much better sound. The RCA inputs sound a little thin/tinny.

QUALITY:
It feels solid and well built from a mechanical point of view. However, I returned three of them before ording an Alesis RA300. The first one had shipping damage that knocked the right potentiometer, the second one had right pot that started out scratchy and then wouldn't work unless you press on it and the third had a distorted left channel that was also not level matched with the right channel. I think that this is a great amp if you can get a working one, but how long will it last?

FEATURES:
Lot's of power, little money.

EASE OF USE:
It's an amp- not much to it.

VALUE:
It would have felt like a good value if it had worked correctly.

SOUND:
Excellent, when working.
