Blue Microphones Ball Dynamic Instrument MicrophoneThe Blue Mics Ball is a unique concept in microphones - a phantom-powered dynamic cardioid microphone.
The hand-built Ball uses a Class A balancing circuit in its output section. This circuit maintains a constant pure-resistive 50-ohm load across the useable frequency spectrum yielding an exceptionally smooth and open sound previously unheard-of in a dynamic mic.
The Ball is capable of handling extremely high SPLs from sources like bass drums, snares, and horns without distortion for extremely clean signals. Ideally suited for studio, stage, broadcast, film or any other applications where reliability, versatility and the utmost sound quality is require. Frequency response: 35Hz - 16kHz. Requires 48V phantom power.
Capture the Heart of What's in Your Head . . . With BLUE Microphones
BLUE microphones are more than just a recording tool . . . they are an investment in value, quality, and expression. You will display them for their artistic beauty, covet and protect them for their investment value, and treasure them for conveying the heart and soul of any musical recording.
BLUE stands for Baltic Latvian Universal Electronics — and for the ultimate in quality! Our work speaks for itself. You'll find BLUE microphones are beyond compare as a valuable investment and unsurpassed as a musical production tool. BLUE has its own facility located in Latvia (one of the Baltic states, located outside Russia). At BLUE, we are not interested in cost-effective mass production, which could jeopardize the design quality of our tube and solid state microphones and related products. We design and manufacture all capsules — the heart of the microphone — as well as precision parts, from the smallest screw to the large body shells used for our Bottle microphones. We've researched the needs of engineers and musicians alike, to create an exceptional collection of microphones.
What makes BLUE microphones so unique, and so valuable? Our unique formula. The mylar film of our BLUE hand-built capsules are sputtered with a special, unique-to-BLUE formula of 24-carat gold of absolute pure (99.99%) quality and aluminum. This special film is tensioned to our own hand-built brass backplates, designed and manufactured in our Riga factory. Our formula allows us to achieve the fastest transient response without the sacrifice of low-end frequencies. BLUE considers the capsule to be the heart of the microphone. This most important element is manufactured solely by us and not sourced from another company. This process is crucial to achieving the unique sound quality that is the trademark of a BLUE microphone.

| The Ball mic appears to be solid and dependable. So far, I've used it as a kick drum mic with good results, and a guitar amp mic as well. | | Features:
| I like the overall, unique design and swivel mount. | | Ease of Use:
| It's easy to mount and aim. It works well with our drummer's clip-on stand underneath his cocktail kick drum. | | Sound:
| It has a bright, warm tone, that I'm fond of. For the price, there's no way to beat it! | | Do you own this product?:

| It seems well made. | | Features:
| it's a bit unusual, it being a phantom powered dynamic mic. But I agree it does sound better than most dynamics in the $100 and under price range, so for the price it's a good deal. | | Ease of Use:
| Once you get used to the shape and the mounting (no clip , the mic screws onto the stand directly, with aswivel) they work great. | | Sound:
| It has a different tone, good but different. That is a good thing. I wasn't looking for a differnt shaped SM57 (Got some)On Guitar amps,I wanted something that would give a differnt flavor. And this delivers that. You can mix and match with other mics to get more flavors. | | Do you own this product?:

| | | Subject: | cool ooking workhorse | | Quality:
| It appears rock solid. They warn you about dropping it or reefing on the mount - basically, the same cautions as for any mic. | | Features:
| This seems to be a step up from entry level dynamics. I would compare it to the sm57. I have akg d65s which doesn't have the dynamic range or clarity. The d65s has it's own qualities (I like it.) Anyway, the BLUE is not the perfect mic (none are) - but, it's an exceptional bang for the buck. | | Ease of Use:
| It's a mic - you plug it in and point it at the sound you want to pick up. Yeah, that can be as complex as you want to make it (room dynamics, etc..) But, a mic is super easy to use. It does, however, require phantom power. As long as you understand that, it's as easy to use as any mic with similar requirements. | | Sound:
| It would be interesting to compare this mic through different preamps. My use has been w/ the mbox2 pro's onboard pres. The mic seems to make a nice impression of what you hear - perhaps favoring the highs a little. Crisp and clean w/ low noise. (yeah, there's a little - maybe other preamps would be better?) | | Do you own this product?:
