Boss DD20 Giga Delay Twin PedalBoss DD20 Giga Delay Twin Effects Pedal offers up to 23 seconds of pro-quality delay!
The DD20 provides 11 delay modes including tape delay, reverse mode and new Smooth and Twist modes for creating entirely new effects. With up to 23 seconds of delay - the most of any pedal effect - the DD20 can easily double as a sound-on-sound pedal. And finally, delay times are shown in seconds/seconds! Delay time can be quickly set, thanks to a new push-button knob that allows fine adjustments or by tapping the pedal.
Delay mode switching is seamless due to the DD20’s memory function. Twist mode creates a wild delay effect similar to over the top manipulation of an analog tape echo, while Smooth creates ultra-smooth delay effects. Connections include stereo 1/4 inch ins & outs, a Footswitch input and AC adaptor jack (for optional Boss PSA120S). 5-year limited warranty.

| HD sound, it does not get any better. Two things, any unit which has trail on the echos is not true bypass. Boss uses buffered inputs, not usually a tone suck, unless you are running a long chain of buffered units. One buffer will improve your sound. Also power supply bricks, most do not like this unit, the current is like a weak 9v on even my BBE unit, this unit likes a full 200mv 9v min. | | Reliability:
| This unit has a 5 year factory warranty, after that I'd say you are on your own. | | Overall:
| This is the best delay for a pro or not so pro player. 23 secs, 11 modes, 4 user memory slots, special effects and some really great musical sounding delay modes, just love this unit. AND it has LINE LEVEL toggle for LOOP use! | | Playability and Feel:
| The best echo unit, period. Forget the others, get this one. It's line level capable many are not. I loved the VOX time machine but it is amp in only, very limiting. | | Tone:
| all echo modes very musically useful and adjustable for any tastes, even bad ones. | | Finish:
| Double pedal design, nice ivory, off white color, looks pro and sounds pro. | | Action:
| Easy enough to use as it's a delay pedal but do read the manual (available on-line) or you will not really understand the full capability present in this well engineered unit. | | Skill Level:

| Again, being a Boss unit it's solid and reliable. | | Sound:
| The various modes such as Tape and Analog are great for allowing your delayed/looped parts to "wear down" in interesting ways over time, especially the Tape mode which adds simulated wow/flutter/warble effects, which is great for adding a nightmarish quality to your sound (if that's what you're after!). It also handles more "standard" delays wonderfully as well.
It's stereo input/output comes in real handy for recording with other stereo pedals my chain (my DD20 is the last on my pedalboard before going out to my rack).
While not true-bypass (like most Boss units, it's buffered), I don't notice any tone-suck when bypassed. | | Reliability:
| Like most Boss pedals, it's a solid workhorse; I've had mine for almost a year of heavy studio use and no problems at all. | | Overall:
| The DD20's 23 second max delay is perfect for building up long looping passages that slowly fade/degrade over time, ala Robert Fripp's early tape-based Frippertronics.
I also use a Boss FS-5L latching footswitch (also purchased here at AMS) with my DD20 to remotely kick in/out the delay as needed during live and recorded ambient performances; this works great when you use the DD20's ability to keep the delays going after you bypass it with the footswitch, so you can play other parts over the top without adding more to the looping textures you've built up at tha point.
My only real wish-list item would be to be able to enter fractional BPM times, i.e. 100.9 instead of just 100...this would allow for more precise lockups to other delays when needed. | | Playability and Feel:
