Boss ME50 Guitar Multi-Effects Pedal

The Boss ME50: Affordable quality!
The Boss ME50 delivers many of their most powerful effects in a rugged metal case with an onboard expression pedal, three footswitches and dedicated knobs for each effects section - making it one of the most intuitive multi-effects processors ever. It defaults to a manual mode and there is a knob for everything. This is as close as you can get to a pile of quality stomp boxes! Its 30 preset Patches deliver everything from delay, modulation, reverb and compression to powerful COSM overdrive & distortion effects. About the only things it doesn’t deliver are amp and speaker modeling since the ME-50 is for guitarists who love their amp and are just looking for great effects with full recall. Effects include compression, analog-type delay, flanger, phaser, tremolo, Harmonist, Uni-V and an amazing new Rotary effect.

Kick effects On/Off with 3 onboard footswitches; control volume, wah, resonance & more with the built-in expression pedal. Designed for use with an amp, The ME50 uses its COSM processing to deliver 22 amazing new overdrive and distortion models - including cool, synth-type sounds. Other convenient features include an onboard tuner and Memory function for changing Patches using the three footswitches and Bank Up/Down buttons. The Boss ME50 provides mono/stereo output, a headphone jack and is powered by batteries or an optional PSA-120.

Boss ME50 Features
  • Floor-based multi-effects processor with BOSS’ most intuitive interface ever
  • 30 Preset Patches including delay, modulation, reverb, compressor and more
  • Killer COSM overdrive/distortion effects including
  • Dedicated knobs for each effect section - no menus to navigate!
  • Tone Modify function offers Preset EQ settings for quick tone editing
  • 3 footswitches for switching effects on and off with a single stomp
  • Onboard expression pedal pre-routed to 6 modulation options or volume
  • Rugged metal case with clear panel layout
The Boss ME50 Works Just Like Your Favorite Pedals
A multi-effects processor without a menu-driven LCD? Leave it to BOSS to design the most intuitive multi-effects processor ever. With simple knob-based control over each effect section, the ME-50 makes dialing in your tone easier than ever. And when you want to kick in an effect, just step on one of the footswitches. Think of it as a pedalboard full of stompboxes, just without all the individual pedals.

Superb Overdrive/Distortion Effects
The Boss ME50 boasts a range of superb COSM overdrive and distortion modes — perfect for use on stage with an amp. Derived from the popular OD-20 Drive Zone, these are some of the crunchiest, tastiest overdriven sounds you can imagine. There’s even a Square effect for cool synth-type sounds. Of course, the ME-50 also has plenty of other effects like compression, analog delay, flanger, phaser, tremolo, Harmonist, Uni-V and a wicked new Rotary effect.

Easy Assignable Expression Pedal
Having an assignable expression pedal is great, but not if you have to dig through menus just to select the effect you want to control. The ME50 fixes all that with a simple Pedal Mode switch and knob. First, select whether you want to use the pedal for volume or expression. If you choose expression, you can then select one of six preset assignments via the dedicated knob: wah, resonance, voice, ring mod and octave up or down.

Memory Function for Live Performance
The ME50’s Memory function makes changing Patches quick and easy. Once enabled, the three footswitches become Patch selectors for switching between three programs within one of the ME-50’s ten memory banks. To switch banks, just press the Bank Up/Down buttons or use an optional footswitch. And with the ME50’s convenient tuner function, keeping your guitar in tune is easy.

Quality: Very rugged. I've been using mine for 3 years and still love it.
Reliability: It's still working perfectly. I have it the Boss BCB60 Pedal Case with an Ibanez Weeping Demon Wah. Fits perfectly although the Ibanez Wah makes the top a bit harder to close.
Overall: Great. I don't like scrolling thru menus. Just want some basic effects like delays, chorus, etc.
Playability and Feel: The pedal has a good sweep and the Octave shift is awesome!
Tone: Great tones with all kinds of distortions. The noise surpressor works very well.

Quality: Boss is always good quality. Solid construction no shortcuts.
Reliability: Had it only about a week but I know it will last me a long time.
Overall: Great selection of tones can be had in this unit. Covers literally every kind of guitar tone you could want. Pedal was my biggest worry but seems nice and smooth to me. The effects from distortion to modulations and delays are all very good.
Playability and Feel: The unit is responsive to my playing the knobs all work with good range of setting. Easy to use out of the box. There is about a 1/2 second delay switching between patches. Some find this annoying. You need to know what it is you need on stage and the purchase accordingly.
Tone: Variety of tones are available. Ofcourse you should know what you want and how to get it. Most guitar player don't really understand the HOW in this process. But the unit will do what you want if you do know the how. If you don't there are presets to help get you started in the right direction.
Finish: Nice finish with easily readable print.
Action: Plug and Play. It works like a stomp box. Love this thing so far. No menus to crawl through but the options of presets to save what sound I create, very cool little blue box. WAY worth the money kiddies.
