Quality: This thing is very sturdy and heavy.overall regardless of what you have heard about bugera in the past they are great sounding and reliable amps. People are jealous that you can get a great tone at a third or half the price. Other companies and their followers are trying hard to snub bugera here in the states. But the only ones paying the price is us the consumer. If you want a great reliable amp buy a bugera. And they respond to your emails occationally unlike the american or japenese companies I've dealt with. Sound: I've owned this amp a few weeks now. I am really impressed by the clean sounds. I throw a boss metal zone on it to get my dirty sounds. I've got a mxr fullbore on order and ill probably order another metal muff. I love amps that can take pedals and this one does especially with the matching bugera cabinet. Reliability: Bugera had some reliability issues prior to summer of 2009. They have since fixed all the issues. The only things you may want to do is buy a bias tool and upgrade to some jj el34 tubes or some kt77 or 6ca7 tubes all will work for this unit. If you do have any future problems I know from others that bugera fixes the problems and gets your amp or a new one in a week or less. Overall: I love my 1960. There's so much you can do with this amp. Playability and Feel: Like I said this thing is a Swiss army knife. Just add your favorite pedals you won't get any natural gain from this amp unless its cranked. This amp has no master gain so I bought a attenuater like item called the volume box that patches into the effects loop and allows you to turn up the tube gain without blasting you out. Its 20 bucks on the internet auction sites. Tone: Tone wise this is very marshall sounding but has the ability to get some peavey style lows when you jump the channels. You will really hear your pick attack no matter how you set it. If you want the evh brown sound throw some 6ca7 tubes for a tight low end more head room and more of a slightly scooped mid tone.like I said this amp has a lot of possibilities. Finish: Looks awesome real classic looking amp. Action: Played great out of the box. The highs chime. I use very little highs in the eq because I jump the channels with a patch cord to blend the high and low channels on the amp. The 1960 is very versitile from jazz to metal just add your favorite pedals. Skill Level: Semi-Pro Do you own this product?: yes i own it and eventually i plan to buy another one or a 1990 which take pedals as good if not better when you set the clean channels pregain just right but that a topic for another day. The valveking doesn't take pedals at all at least not for metal. And the spider amps just aren't loud enough to do a metal concert. Both those amps are great for other styles of music though. The bugeras are born for metal but can do it all. Sound: You can get fender deluxe or twin reverb tones to dark peavey 6505+ tones. when you jump the inputs and ad pedals anything is possible. This may be the greatest amp ever made. Reliability: I have had no problems and bugeras have been know to have problems with the wire clips catching fire. It is a easy fix and well worth owning the sound of their amps.newark.com sells the replacement part for .75 cents. Other companies have the exact same problems people just don't bash on them as hard. Overall: Great sounding clean channel amp.You can get any tone you want. It takes pedals very well. Its very loud. Playability and Feel: Plays great very responsive amp. The chicken head knobs are cool. Tone: Like I said the tone can go from a 6505+,mesa,fenders,marshall,and every tone between but you'll need a pedal. For metal buy a metal muff or a mxr fullbore metal. For blues buy a attenuater to get you tube saturation at a low volume. This amp won't give you distortion unless its cranked. Finish: The head looks great very heavy and big and old school looking. The bugera logo shines. My cab came with a couple of the corner chrome plates dented. I don't care though cause it sounds great and will get banged up anyway. Action: Sounded great right out of the box. Got some metallica cleans and incubus drive cleans amazing amp for rock metal or blues and jazz it does it all.
