Quality
Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable?
The build quality is excellent. Internally is is as well made as any other amp my eyes have seen. The layout internally seems on par with any other mass produced amplifier. Clean, and precise.
Reliability
How has it stood up over time?
Having a first run Bugera 6262 since December of 2007, I cannot perceive the bugera V55 having ANY issues whatsoever. Those who have complained of issues, seem to be unaware that these types of things, such as a bad molex plug, can be a problem with ALL, I repeat ALL mass produced amps. Internally, I cannot see anything that would be a red flag. The build is as top notch as it possibly can be.
Overall
Your general opinion of this product.
| Overall, the amp is a great tool. Being a head, I cannot comment on the speaker that would come in the combo, but I am using a 2 x 12 with 2 Bugera speakers from my 6262.
The amp sounds a little sterile, but tube worthy vs solid state. I found the stock power tubes to be harsh. I currently have a set of JJ power tubes in it, that helped smooth out the gain channel. |
Playability and Feel
How does it feel, Heavy, Fast, Chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing?
The controls are set up very nicely, and the MASTER VOULUME and MASTER PRESENCE is a great thing!
Tone
Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin?
The amp straight from the factory is slightly dull on the clean channlel, and harsh on the gain channel. Speaker swaps and tubes swaps tend to even things out with all amps. Of course, it's all subjective.
Finish
How did the stain or paint job look?
The head itself is built very well, and has quite a weight to it. The only cosmetic defect I can see is a little but of glue under some piping. That's it.
