CAD C195 Handheld Vocal Condenser Microphone

The CAD C195 microphone is a superior low-noise, electret condenser cardioid microphone designed for professional vocalists and musicians.
The CAD C195 provides the performance and features to satisfy today's most demanding professionals. The wide and flat frequency response of the CAD C195 provides unsurpassed natural transparent sound quality. The cardioid pickup pattern minimizes annoying feedback (when used close to sound reinforcement speakers and monitors) and reduces the pickup of unwanted off-axis sounds. A transformerless electronic design provides optimum low frequency response and low distortion. An effective internal multistage pop filter minimizes wind and breath noise. The CAD C195 is supplied complete with a zippered vinyl protective pouch and a snap-in microphone swivel-mount.

The CAD C195 microphone has a Flex-Form hardened steel grille screen that dramatically resists deformation while greatly reducing any risk of adverse performance caused by a bent or dented ball screen. This unique ability to retain its original shape assures that the CAD C195 will maintain its attractive appearance.

The CAD C195 features the CAD exclusive (I.N.R.-3) Impact Noise Rejection system. CAD's proprietary rubber shock mount isolates the transducer from the barrel, thus dramatically reducing cable, stand and handling noise. The need for any external shock mounting device is virtually eliminated.

The low-frequency response of the CAD C195 may be enhanced by increasing or decreasing the distance from the sound source. This phenomenon is technically known as proximity effect. Nominal or flat response is generated at a distance of 24 inches or more. However, as the distance to the sound source decreases, the bass sensitivity increases, providing a solid, robust character.

CAD Quality
All CAD C195 microphones are audio tested and inspected prior to shipment. CAD's absolute commitment to quality insures that CAD microphones remain the Best Value in today's competitive industry.

Subject:Secret Weapon!
Quality: I own a dozen of these mics, and have not had trouble with any. I use them in with a variety band, a theatrical show, and at a church for contemporary worship.
Features: This is a high output mic - you'll want to turn down the pre-amp (trim-gain) on your mixer compared to most other mics. This means the pre-amps don't have to work as hard, so even cheap design can sound better.
Ease of Use: Requires 48V phantom power which most mixers have nowadays - seems to also work with "odd" phantom voltages, like 24V, 32V etc. With the pre-amps correctly set, mic seems better-than-average at gain before feedback.
Sound: I have a dark voice, and this mic helps with definition/intelligibility while the proximity effect let's me sing bass once in a while. We routinely blow away other mics costing many times more. My sound man calls it my "secret weapon!"
