CAD TRION 8000 Tube Condenser Microphone

The CAD Trion 8000 is a multi-pattern, externally biased, large dual diaphragm studio tube condenser microphone. The Trion 8000 incorporates a sophisticated, precision-machined, hand-assembled capsule. The low mass 1.12-inch gold vapor deposited, hand dampened diaphragms offer the warm, rich and open classic tube sound ideal for studio vocal recordings in the digital realm. Exceptional sensitivity, low distortion and an extended frequency response make the Trion 8000 an outstanding performer.

From musicians recording at home to performers, FOH engineers and Grammy award winning artists, the Trion 8000 is receiving these types of comments:

  • "The Trion 8000 has a nice top end, smooth and very true sounding. It's on the top of my list for vocal mics." Gordini with Nickelback
  • Collins "The Jack" Peters uses the Trion 8000 for its warmth and clarity for recording vocals.
  • "This mic was warm, fat and brilliant on my 200 year old French Bass. I knew my bass sounded good, but it sounded unbelievable. Thanks for a GREAT microphone!" Brandino!, bass player with Mary J Blige for Best R&B Album of 2007, the Breakthrough.

Discrete Class A electronics provide transparent, accurate sound reproduction. The transformer-coupled output ensures excellent RF immunity, cancellation of cable capacitance, and rejection of induced line noise. A 3-position polar pattern switch provides selection of omnidirectional, cardioid or figure-8 polar patterns for versatility and flexibility demanded in the professional recording environment.

The rugged metal housing and construction provide the durability required to withstand the harsh day-to-day demands of both live and studio applications. Featuring a heritage design, the Trion 8000 offers an aesthetically pleasing industrial profile. Accurate sound reproduction, high SPL capability and warm tube performance make this an excellent choice for the recording professional. Shockmount, heavy-duty aluminum carrying case, 25ft 6-pin connector cable, and power supply are included. 115/230 VAC power required.

Subject:Pleasantly surprised!
Quality: This microphone seems like excellant quality! It comes in a really nice metal carrying case, bonus!
Features: I love the 3-way switch! I might like to have an on/off switch too, but no big deal.
Ease of Use: It only took about a half hour to completely hook up to my recording equiptment and start testing.
Sound: I love the sound! I have aready tried mandolin, banjo, guitar and fiddle besides vocals and everything sounds great. ( I have never been able to get a good recording of my banjo before this mic!)

Sound:
Subject:Best Kept Secret Amoung Budget Mics - does not sound budget
Quality: This mic is very well constructed. It has a solid feel and is heavy. The power supply seems a rugged although the thin sheet metal seems to be quite thin. The spider cage is tight and supports the mic well. The rubber bands do not seem cheap and prone to wear out quickly like the MXL mic's shock mounts.
Features: The sound and the multi-pattern
Ease of Use: Easy to use, set it up, plug it in, let it warm up and point at the source.
Sound: The tone is smooth and even in all three polar patterns. Creamy is the sound I would use. In figure-of-eight, the back cap seems a little brighter - not by much, but enough that if using two vocalist you will want to make sure you voice things correctly.

Subject:Wow...I was surprised.

QUALITY:
This comes with a nice looking aluminum case. The build is solid No moving parts (unless you decide to open the casing).

FEATURES:
The shockmount is unreal. It's very loose, and a work of art in itself. Vibrations will not affect it. Most shockmounts I've used were very stiff, and kind of defeated the purpose. This thing is much more forgiving of an accidental bump.

EASE OF USE:
Straightford. It has a cord designed to work between the mic and the box. Seems to be of great quality. Well shielded, etc. And use your own XLR cable to plug into your recording source. East.

VALUE:
Huge value. If you are weighing this mic our vs. the $600 Rode tubes, etc. I would stop here. CAD has done their homework on what consumer want I think.

SOUND:
It surprised the heck out of me. I was looking for a single mic that would have that broadcast/pro studio music quality where there wasn't too much sibilance Mos

Overall:

QUALITY:
Like a rock.

FEATURES:
The shock mount is beautiful. The mic feels like 'quality.'

EASE OF USE:
Extremely easy. No learning curve.

VALUE:
I've spent a thousand dollars on a few different mikes. This one is better...by far. Slam dunk.

SOUND:
This mic is like heaven on earth. It's the first mic that has allowed me to sing with a relaxed feel, while the instruments rock. It takes my dark, big voice and puts it exactly where it needs to be in the mix. I don't have to do much eq work or play around much. It's just there. It's full, clear, warm, and anything that you want it to be. I've recorded heavier rock, country, and ballad styles with it. This is the first mic that has made me feel like listening to the playback. It's worth 3 or 4 times the money. Buy one while the buying is good. This model should stay around for a long time. I used it in my home studio, but I'd take it into
