The Carl Martin BassDrive Tube Overdrive Bass Pedal is a tube driven pre-amp/overdrive designed to give you big, round and phat tone with just the right amount of sustain. Whether playing through any of the modern solid-state/digital bass rigs on the market or a true tube amp, the BassDrive pedal offers you an extra dimension to your tone! The Carl Martin BassDrive adds that classic sound back into your amp without changing its original tone or sound.
Fiendishly simple to use with separate Volume and Gain controls plus a basic EQ (Bass, Middle and Treble), the 12AX7 pre-amp tube supplies up to +40dB of extra gain. This ranges from just a slightly edgier tone to full out pre-amp tube distortion! Carl Martin designed and created the circuitry to make sure your tone blends or melts into the sound of your rig, rather than sit on top like so many other pedals on the market. The BassDrive pedal acts and reacts to your playing very much like the front end of a tube amp, giving you the best of both worlds at the click of a switch.
The Carl Martin BassDrive is housed in a low-profile metal housing in conservative black, with easy to read and adjust Chrome knobs and a vented chamber for the 12AX7 pre-amp tube to live in. Power is supplied via AC cable and a regulated +/-12V power supply (built in) which allows Carl Martin to use much higher end components and supply you with the extra headroom and quality you have come to expect.
Adjust your Bass Middle and Treble controls to bring your guitar to its optimum tone, and then add Gain until you’re satisfied with your new sound (you may have to adjust your volume down as you increase Gain to maintain a consistent volume level)! Engage and disengage with the footswitch as required, and transport yourself back to the 60's and 70's while enjoying the razor sharp precision of your contemporary bass rig!
