All About Crate Amps
Since our first piece of ready-for-the-trenches gear, we've made innovation the norm and the player our priority. Now, with that same youthful grit and aggressive approach to sound, Crate directs the future of the industry.
As avid guitar players themselves, Crate engineers build the gear they want to use. And as crafters of tone, they're naturally good listeners—not only to the purity of sound, but also to the insight of their fellow musicians, whose immeasurable experience is a driving force behind every piece of Crate gear.
Our musician-first philosophy produces innovative, versatile amps appreciated by players and industry critics alike, and since our first piece of gear we’ve infused that unmistakable Crate style. Nearly 35 years ago, traditional amp builders had staked their claim to legions of players satisfied with amp technologies that'd been around for 20+ years. While our monolithic competitors rested on their laurels, Crate made innovation the norm with stripped down, ready-for-the-trenches designs. The solid pine box, ammo can handle, and metal reinforcements of our near-indestructible first models would be a sign of greatness to come. And with our patented FlexWave technology as the springboard to our success, even the most discriminating musicians came to feel the vibe.
With that same youthful grit and aggressive approach to sound, Crate now directs the future of the industry. Our engineers lead the pack with the implementation of digital effects technologies, and our product line continues to evolve ahead of the cusp. It's an ongoing testament to the passion of employees who make great sounding music their livelihood, their hobby, and their way of life.
Crate your own sound... with Crate.

| Although I am a great fan of crate, this head is something I would NOT buy again. Poor soldering, cheap parts and the chorus pot has to be nearly twisted off to kill the effect. Died on me after 3 months... spent a XXXX load of time repairing it, eventually bypassed the effects- they're a cheap gimmick anyway... Not very good quality head, sound nice though. | | Reliability:
| Like I said, died after three months. Resoldered all contacts where pots meet the board. Now it works, who knows for how long though. | | Overall:
| You know, I love this brand, Love the sound, but just hate the quality of the parts and work put into it. you cant trust these amps. My V33 is actually working hard, with no signs of quiting. Maybe Crate should just stick to Tube amps... | | Playability and Feel:
| Plays well, sounds nice... Love the clean (without effects). Channels 2 and 3 are also nice for solid state...great sound! Now make something that last! | | Tone:
| Good toen for solid state- no complaints. | | Finish:

| Probably not, i ordered a B stock and nothing but the high gain chanel worked. I returned and got a new one and it seems to be fine.
Great for metal, hard rock or just something to piss your neighbors off with. | | Reliability:
| So far so good, after the return ive been satisfied. | | Overall:
| Its cheap, but it has some good distortion. You can easily play anything with that older Rush tone to Pantera and not be disappointed. | | Playability and Feel:
| The effects switch quickly which is a plus. Sometimes with built n FX it takes a microsecond to switch causing a brief cut out in sound. this does not do that.
The high gain is also Eq'd with the low gains bass, trebel, and mid knobs which isnt something i like to much, maybe if they built in a seperate EQ for the high gain it would be better but for a budget head, cant beat it. | | Tone:
| Pretty good range overall, like i said, its good and with an outside EQ it would be pretty awesome. | | Finish:
| Fine. The knobs are cheap quality, i had one knob cracked as soon as i used it | | Action:
