    Product Description

A hollowbody D’Angelico with P-90 pickups? Yes. Master luthier John D’Angelico built several instruments powered by fabulous P-90 pickups, and the EX-59 is a classic example of such a guitar. After unearthing an original 1959 sunburst D’Angelico, the reissue soon followed. The EX-59 is the perfect companion to the traditional D’Angelico humbucking pickup-equipped archtop and offers that legendary D’Angelico warmth but with a unique edge.

DAngelico EX59 Hollowbody Electric Guitar Features

    • 1 Volume, 1 Tone, 3 Way Rotary Selector Switch
    • Maple neck with 2-piece Walnut Center
    • P-90 Pickups
    • Mother-of-pearl square block inlays
    • ’50s retro-vibe volume and tone knobs

Its P-90 pickups provide just the right amount of bite to give your sound some attitude if you want to push it hard. It’s no surprise blues icon Robert Randolph has adopted the EX-59 as his guitar of choice. Staying true to the D’Angelico legacy, the EX-59 exudes elegance. The distinctive headstock with a mother-of-pearl Excel inlay and Art Deco truss rod cover, mother-of-pearl square block inlays, carved top and back, Gold Grover Super Rotomatic stairstep tuners, chicken-head three-way pickup position switch, and ’50s retro-vibe volume and tone knobs add that timeless D’Angelico touch.

The EX-59’s gorgeous laminated flame maple top and back is accentuated by the absence of a pickguard—a design element carried over from the original. A deluxe hard shell case is included. If you’re after the buttery sound of the blues or the smokey sounds of jazz, this is the guitar you’ve been waiting for. Whether plugged into a class A vintage combo amp or direct into your computer-based recording system, the EX-59 will remain true to its unique identity. The EX-59 is a legacy rediscovered and reborn.

Great P-90 Tone and Beautiful Maple Finish!
    Product Rating
What is your opinion of this product?
As with the other current D'Angelico guitars in my experience (an EXL-1 and Style B), the workmanship, finish and attention to detail are superb. It arrived perfectly setup and ready to play after I changed the strings to flatwounds and required no bridge or neck adjustment. The P-90 pickups have an authentic P-90 sound and the neck pickup has the dark and full jazz tone I was looking for. It also has a good tone with both pickups on. The natural maple finish is beautiful. The neck is comfortable and the frets had no rough edges or other problems. It's a beautiful guitar with great tone and I recommend it for jazz guitarists and other players who want an archtop with classic P-90s tone!

Well worth the money, is an under statement! Love this guitar!
What is your opinion of this product?
The quality of materials, and construction are excellent. Quality vs, cost, is off the scale. I would have been pleased, had I spent twice the money for this guitar. No flaws were detected anywhere, frets were nicely filed and polished, and the action required no adjustments on my part. The action is as low as my 68' Gibson SG, yet you can still drive this thing acoustically without any buzzing. The acoustic tone is almost startling, in it's beauty, and complexity. Each chord just rings, and seems to go on forever. No dead spots, or bad notes anywhere on this fretboard! Electronically, the guitar sounds, and performs as expected, I run it through a Bugera V5, or, a Roland cube 20 with good results. OK, they didn't mention the scale, length of the strings. It's about 25 and 3/4, which is about one inch longer than a Les Paul, and one inch shorter than a baritone guitar. so, you will have to go with a heavier gauge string than you're used to. I've got 11-48's on mine. Sounds/feels great

This will be my number 1 axe to go to!!!
What is your opinion of this product?
It was a toss up between this and a Gibson Midtown. Needless to say the looks, the P90 pickups, the maple flame color and that famous headstock with those Imperial tuners won out hands down. I had mine setup with some pure nickel strings and it's all that. I also managed to catch the 12-payment deal on my EX59... so you know that sealed the deal!!!!
