A modern classic from Dean Guitars
Quality
Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable?
Excellent Korean craftmanship, a lot of attention to detail. Very dependable. A superb bargain at its price (would stand up to other basses with a higher price tag)
Features
What do you consider to be the best features of this product? What features would you add to this product if you could?
Great tuners, ABM bridge (fully adjustable),hardwareis very sturdy and durable.
Sound
How is its Tone?
Very powerful bass, will cut thru any mix.
Playability and Feel
How does it feel, Heavy, Fast, Chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing?
At 8.5 lbs its very well balanced on the shoulders. Comfortable to play either standing or sitting. The neck is a fast playing C type, not too chunky or too thin, just right for me. 1.5" @ the nut. Very Powerfull bass. Controls: Vol/Treb/Bass & Mids very easy to operate.
Tone
Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin?
You can dial in a wide variety of tones: warm bassy all the way to bright piano like treble. Pick up is positioned in the sweetspot, and has great response when plucked with either a pick or bare fingers
Finish
How did the stain or paint job look?
The satin finish is flawless.
Action
How was the action out of the box?
Low and perfectly set from the factory.

Great Hillsboro bass from Dean
Quality
Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable?
Import, made in Korea (BTW: Excellent craftmanship, QC & great attention paid to detail), built to last a long time, so very dependable. Took it along as a back up bass to a large venue gig, ended up playing it the entire 2.5hr gig without switching to my prefered bass (fender P bass). No hardcase came, or even a gigbag included with the bass, contacted Dean Guitars as to what they recommend, and they advised me it fits inside their case model # DHS EB, and the same case is shared with their "Edge" bass series)
Features
What do you consider to be the best features of this product? What features would you add to this product if you could?
All the hardware (tuners, ABM bridge, Potentiometers) is top of notch sturdy quality. Solid nut @ 1.5", very powerful HB pick up & electronics.
Sound
How is its Tone?
Powerful output!...be careful to lower you amp's gain before pluggin it... can cut thru any mix. Very quiet bass for active, no crackling at the controls or output jack. Wide variety of tones once you get accustomed to dialing in tones
Playability and Feel
How does it feel, Heavy, Fast, Chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing?
Weigh: 8.5 lbs, but comfortable & well balanced on the shoulders (& sitting as well). The neck is super smooth (satin backside)and fast. The controls are quiet, the pots are not as loose turning as in other basses of same price point).Plays and feels like a high end bass!!!
Tone
Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin?
Excellent DMT humbucker pickup! Tone can be dialled all the way from warm bass to piano bright. According to Dean Guitars, Strungged with D'Addario roundwound strings straight from the factory.
Finish
How did the stain or paint job look?
Satin finish, no flaws!
Action
How was the action out of the box?
The action was perfect out of the box (at least with my bass), no need for a set up
