Wow what a Dean!
Quality
Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable?
Foreign made guitars seem to be getting better every year. I use to be a straight Gibson man, but I'll take one of these against an LP standard anytime. And the fact that you can by 5 of these for the price of one Gibby doesen't hurt either!
|
Reliability
How has it stood up over time?
I haven't owned it long enough to tell, but it's made very well and I would imagine it will age nicely.
|
Overall
Your general opinion of this product.
I've owned several guitars in my 20 years of playing music, this is pound for pound the best bang for the buck out there.
|
Playability and Feel
How does it feel, Heavy, Fast, Chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing?
Guitar feels full in the hand without "thick" in the neck and you can climb the fretboard effortlessly even to the top frets. Neck does not dive when you release it. The guitar stays exactly where you leave it. The toggle switch is in a perfect position and the speed knobs work well.
|
Tone
Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin?
Tone is dark and heavy without being muddy but the high end cuts nicely through the mix. VERY impressed with the Dean american made pickups.
|
Finish
How did the stain or paint job look?
I've looked the guitar over top to bottom and front to back and can't find any flaw in fit or finish.
|
Action
How was the action out of the box?
Buzz free and low. The strings were junk and two light, but that's standard from any factory.

Not bad....
Quality
Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable?
It is made fairly well, but it isnt a Gibson by a long shot. It will be a good stage guitar for me, so i dont always have to risk damage to my Les Paul or PRS.

Reliability
How has it stood up over time?
Just got it, but I think it will be fine.
|
Overall
Your general opinion of this product.
I've been playing for 35 years, so I know what i'm talking about...This is a fairly decent guitar. Mine has some flaws, but I am keeping it anyway. There is a pretty noticable flaw in the finish around one of the string holes that go thru the body, and the joint where they glued in the neck wasnt completely sanded flush with the cutaway. But other than that, it looks very good.
|
Playability and Feel
How does it feel, Heavy, Fast, Chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing?
It is very well balanced, not too heavy or light. The neck is very fast. The controls are a little odd...I woulda thought the first knob would be the volume for the bridge pup, but it is the volume for the neck pup. I will probably rewire it.
|
Tone
Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin?
The bridge pup is very fat sounding. Almost too much so when playing chords. Good harmonics, and solos sound good. The neck pup seems a little weak to me. Sounds good when soloing high up the neck, but weak on low notes. I will be upgrading to Dimarzio D-Activators.
|
Finish
How did the stain or paint job look?
At first glance it looks great. But mine has a flaw around one of the string holes that go thru the body. very noticable, but I can deal with it. The binding really makes it look high end.
|
Action
How was the action out of the box?
The action was way too high for my playing style. I adjusted the bridge, and adjusted the truss rod and now it is lightning fast.
