About Dean Guitars - A Quick History Lesson...
Dean Guitars was born in 1976, in the attic of the Chicago suburban childhood home of company founder Dean B. Zelinsky. The eighteen-year-old Zelinsky was convinced that guitar design and manufacturing had hit a wall. Rock music was huge and guitar makers were failing to keep up with the times. The world was ready for a guitar that looked, played, and sounded superior to what was available from manufacturers at that time. Zelinsky had a better idea.

What followed was a line of electric guitars that for the first time allowed players to play to their potential. With its highly visible V-shaped headstock and trademark wing logo, Dean became in effect, the first boutique guitar line in the history of rock music.

These guitars had to be played to be believed, and played they were! Dean guitars started showing up on rock stages worldwide, album covers, and especially on the newly emerging channel called MTV. Dean Guitars were featured in the award-winning MTV Video of the Year three of the first four years running. By the time Dean created the famous Spinning Fur Guitars, Dean’s early place in Rock history was firmly cemented.

Over a quarter century later, you can still buy that same USA made boutique Dean Guitar. Today, Dean Guitars has taken that same concept of creating a superior instrument to a whole new level. Dean now offers a full line of fretted instruments including electric and acoustic guitars, basses, jazz guitars, resonators, banjos and mandolins. More importantly, Dean is dedicated to delivering these fine quality instruments at a value that is second to none.

No longer do you need to be a platinum selling artist to play Dean!

Subject:GETCHA PULL!!!
Quality: It's pretty solid. Neck thru design is a beautiful thing.
Features: A big fat bass booster on that thing would be nice, but it doesn't really NEED anything else. A lot of knobs to play with is fun, but this doesn't really need them.
Sound: BEAUTIFUL!!! Crisp, clean, and it breaks right through that usually muddy-sounding low end. Very low vibration. Was strung up nearly perfectly right out of the box!
Playability and Feel: Great feel! Great playability. Looks a lot heavier than it is. the case is probably heavier than the actual guitar. Nice and light, but good and solid. You don't have to worry about it falling apart on you, but you don't need a roadie to drag it around for you.
Tone: The low end totally smashes! It's really chunky and fat. I was surprised at its ability to handle a lower tuning after I heard the punchy bright high end, but the spectrum of sound on this is amazing! It can smash out highs and lows like crazy and the humbuckers kick the grating vibration completely out.
Finish: OOOOOOH, PRETTY!!! It looks like a big chunk of metal! Really glossy.
Action: BEAUTIFUL! I didn't have to tweak it at all, just tune her up!

Subject:Razorback...Great Bass!
Quality: The headstock says "made in China"; but it's well constructed with a killer finish
Features: It's a big bass, but it's surprisingly light! 24 frets, active pickups also are a plus.
Sound: Very powerful, capable of any and all things heavy, as well as a nice slap and pop tone. You could dial in just about any sound you like in a minute or two tweaking.
Playability and Feel: It's lighter than expected, has a fast 24 fret neck, factory set up is spot on. Easy enough to dial in your tone on the fly.
Tone: It can go anywhere from very deep and warm to a bright snappy tone with the active pickups. Has alot of presence.
Finish: Great black and silver finish, killer body style. Looks right onstage in a metal band.
Action: Nice low action, mine was set up spot on right out of the box.
