Product Description

The Fender 2013 American Select Stratocaster HSS Electric Guitar takes the incredible features of its predecessor to a whole other level! This instrument features Fender’s brand new ‘channel-bound’ fingerboard innovation. They actually inlay the compound-radius (9.5-14 inch) rosewood fingerboard into the thick modern ‘C’-shaped maple neck. This not only provides an elegant look but it also imparts an amazing feel in which both edges are pleasingly rounded, with no side seam between neck and fingerboard!

Fender also gives the American Select Strat HSS a beautiful flame maple-top body with traditional contours. The body has an elegant hand-stained finish with a gloss lacquer topcoat, and the neck has a hand-rubbed oil finish and a comfortable contoured heel.

What is your overall opinion of this product?
The first one I received had a wood screw protruding through the control cavity which shorted out the pickup selector switch. I chose to deal with fender on this issue and they (after a ton of documentation) decided to replace it. The one they sent back had to be one of the ugliest and least quality instruments I've ever had the misfortune to hold in my hands. Uneven frets, wonky neck, dead spots in the neck, a stuck truss rod , and a case that wouldn't latch properly were among the issues I experienced with the replacement. If this guitar could speak (which you couldn't hear over the fret buzz anyway) it would say. "Kill meeee..." After taking the guitar to a local guitar tech he quoted $175.00 to get the guitar playable. This still doesn't address the issue of the maple veneer which might be the ugliest top I've ever seen. For real. It's awful. I'm dealing with fender as I write this review trying to get them to replace the instrument a second time
