The Fender Deluxe Nashville Telecaster Electric Guitar with Maple Fingerboard is down-home and sophisticated, featuring a Tex-Mex Strat pickup sandwiched between two Tex-Mex Tele pickups. This arrangement, combined with five-way Strat-o-Tone switching, makes it one of the most versatile Telecasters Fender offers. Other features include an alder body, Brown Shell pickguard, vintage machine heads, vintage six-saddle bridge and medium jumbo frets.

A Versatile Telecaster - High Quality

Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable?
I am very satisfied with this guitar. I have owned an American Deluxe telecaster in the past and this guitar compares. The fret edges are very smooth and the maple fingerboard has a beautiful grain pattern. I like the felling of the neck on this guitar. It almost feels unfinished which is nice because it is not "sticky" like some of the other neck finishes Fender uses. The guitar is well put together and if it didn't say made in Mexico on it you would not be able to tell the difference between this and an American made telecaster.
Reliability
How has it stood up over time?
I have only had it for a few days so I can't comment on this yet but the guitar seems very solid and well put together.
Playability and Feel
How does it feel, Heavy, Fast, Chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing?
This guitar has a fast neck that doesn't stick. The fret edges are smooth. The American vintage 6 saddle bridge is nice and allows for easy palm muting. I ordered the Blonde in ash and it does feel a bit heavier than my old American Deluxe telecaster but I have to say this is becoming my favorite guitar with the 5 way strat switching and the strat tex-mex pickup in the middle.
Tone
Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin?
The tex-mex pickups on this guitar are just hot enough to nail anything from country to blues to rock and roll. The 5 way switching lets you go from mellow to thick and the maple fingerboard is nice and snappy. Plenty of twang in this baby as well!
Finish
How did the stain or paint job look?
The finish is flawless on my guitar. I can't find any flaws. It's as well put together as my American Deluxe telecaster.
Action
How was the action out of the box?
The action was set low, right where I like it, out of the box. The intonation was spot on. It was one of the first guitars I have ever got where I didn't need to do any set up on it. I am impressed!

In 2001, I purchased a Fender Deluxe Nashville Telecaster. Alder body, candy apple red, maple fretboard. It was a GREAT guitar. In 2004, I sold it. Why did I sell it?? Let's just call it temporary insanity. Last week, I purchased another Deluxe Nashville Tele, from AMS. This time with an Ash body, Honey Blonde and maple fretboard. Oh baby!!!! I LOVE this guitar !!!!! I've owned an American Standard Tele and a Highway 1 Tele. And I like the Deluxe Nashville Tele best.

How has it stood up over time?
Fender quality and reliability is second to none. I've been playing guitar for forty nine years and own or have owned several Fender guitars basses and amps. The name FENDER speaks for itself.

This is a BEAUTIFUL guitar. Flawless. The grain of the ash body is visible through the honey blonde finish. Can't find a blemish anywhere. Neck is straight and true. A very well built guitar.
Playability and Feel
How does it feel, Heavy, Fast, Chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing?
The Nashville Tele is perfectly balanced when You strap it on. Not at all heavy. Not neck heavy. Perfect. It has that wonderful "C" shaped Fender neck. The neck and fingerboard feel slick and fast. Controls are perfectly placed. The switch and knobs work perfectly.
Tone
Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin?
You can get any tone you want with this guitar. It is the most versatile Telecaster You could have. The Tex-Mex pickups are great. And with a five way switch you can do anything. The bridge pickup gives that classic "bite". The bridge and middle pickup combined sounds exactly like a Strat. Combine the middle and bridge pickups and You get that Hendrixy "Spanish Castle Magic" tone and the neck pickup gets that SRV sound quite well. The volume knob works like it should, giving a gradual increase or decrease in volume. And the tone knob gives a gradual change from dark to bright. No sudden change, but a gradual change, as it SHOULD be. I play just about everything except Metal or Rap. This Tele will do it all for Me. Country, Funk, Classic Rock. It's all here, in one guitar. The Tex-Mex pickups aren't quite as HOT as You'll find in the American Standard or Deluxe but they sound very good and the extra pickup and five way switch make the Deluxe a much more versatile guitar.

The finish on this Deluxe Nashville Telecaster is flawless. Perfect. And beautiful.
Action
How was the action out of the box?
Out of the box, the action was very playable and intonation was perfect. I lowered the bridge saddles about half a turn. Rechecked the intonation. Perfect. Slick as snot.
