General
What is your overall opinion of this product?
Rich Gibson tones from a 34" scale bass. It came set up perfectly right out of the box. The "faded cherry" is beautiful to look at and the finish is flawless.
Quality
What is your opinion of the quality of this product? How does it work for different genres of music?
I also own an SG Bass (and years ago I had an origin al EB3). The ES 335 Bass is superior in every way. I love my Fender jazz but this Gibson ES 335 is much more versatile.
Feel
Heavy, fast, chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing?
It's not a light guitar. Slightly heavy in the neck.
Tone
How is the tone? Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick or thin?
The neck pick up is rich and mellow - if you dial back the tone it can be "boomy". The bridge pickup is surprisingly bright - kind of like a 6 string ES 335 but lower range, of course.
Playability
How was the action out of the box?
It was perfectly intonated and action set for easy play with no buzzing.
