You will never break one. You may lose them but NEVER break one!

The bevel allows for smooth tonal attack in either up or downstrokes.

Reliability:

For guitar they last forever, the bass will eventually eat up the bevel though.

Overall:

The pick has the perfect bevel on the edge for fast alternate picking and is so rigid that it allows the player's hand to create a full range of dynamics without the scratching sound you get from other super stiff picks. You better have your pick attack in good form if you intend to use them though.
