The MXR EVH 90 is a collaboration between Eddie Van Halen and Dunlop Manufacturing that represents a totally redesigned, updated version of the legendary Phase 90.

The EVH 90 will give you the same great spacey swirls and hypnotic warbles that made the Phase 90 famous. But the EVH 90 also features the all-new Script switch that lets you instantly toggle between a vintage, Script Logo phase tone and a more modern, in-your-face Block Logo phaser.

Add to this the Van Halen-approved striped graphics from the guitar that changed the world and you have a truly unique piece of rock history.

Edward Van Halen earned his spot in the guitar tone hall of fame with the first note on his debut album in 1978. The guitar work on that album still boggles minds more than 25 years later. The tones that EVH got on that classic record are among the greatest ever, and a huge part of Eddie's guitar sound has always been the MXR Phase 90. The Phase 90 contributed to the unbelievable tones on Eruption, Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love, On Fire, and Atomic Punk, plus many other timeless Van Halen tracks.

Subject:EVH phase 90 problems...
Quality: The EVH phase 90 is built like a tank but owned it less than a year and used it minamumly in my room. Always used a battery for better sound quality and no chance of 60 cycle hum. I never even had this in the floor. I keep all my pedals up in arms reach for recording. About the third time that I decided to use this I noticed that the guitars signal had no change at all to it just a brighter sound,, no phase changes. I tried to change the knob adjustment with still no change. I have no idea what could have gone wrong???
Reliability: I have had no luck with this pedal and wish that I had read the reviews before I had purchased this pedal.
Overall: My opinion is that if you cannot rely on a pedal working more than three times its not worth having.
Playability and Feel: Sounded alright when it worked...

Quality: Virtually Indestructable. The switch is a standard foot pedal switch and can be replaced easily if it wears out. The other reviewer seems to have a grudge for some reason. MXR pedals are genuine road gear. I use their 10 band EQ, the EVH flanger and this pedal.
Reliability: Flawless.
Overall: Essential instrument for driving tube amps and achieving a clear but shimmering tone. The script switch is truly beautiful. I'm sure the previous reviewer would respond that it doesn't change the sound. It doesn't - if you don't know what you are listening too.
Playability and Feel: not applicable.
Tone: bright and shimmering. The "screech" just comes alive with this pedal - really fires up the harmonics and gets 'em all shifty like. Beautiful.
Finish: if you like eddie's style the finish is really cool. Very colorful.
