Dunlop GCB95F Crybaby Classic Wah Pedal

The Dunlop Crybaby Classic Fasel Wah is Back!
Back in the 1960s, a device was born that would change the course of music — the wah pedal. Those original pedals, which included the first Crybaby, are among the most sought-after effects of all time. They had a unique voice that has been impossible to duplicate. Until now. After more than 30 years, the holy grail of wah components, the Fasel inductor, is back. These legendary inductors are the key to the expressive, vocal quality of the classic wahs and are finally available - exclusively from Dunlop. The most trusted name in wah pedals is also the new worldwide agent for Fasel.

Introducing the Crybaby Classic featuring Fasel Inside. This wah faithfully recreates the vowel-like sweep and lush harmonic sparkle heard on so many timeless recordings. If you want that vibe, you need Fasel Inside. And the Crybaby Classic has it. Go back in time and hear what you’ve been missing with the Crybaby Classic.

Subject:Takes me back to old school daze.
Quality: I used to have an original Thomas Organ Co. Crybaby in the early '80s. It was given to me by a musical mentor who took interest in my ability. It was awesome. It also got liquidated with pretty much everything except the clothes on my back because of a divorce. I recently got back into music and I've looked high and low for a wah that came close.
Reliability: When I first got my GCB-95F I was a little disappointed. When played with distortion it was wonderful! Unfortunately the pot was so scratchy that it was impossible to play clean. I squirted a little contact cleaner into the pot and that fixed that... for a little while. It became cumbersome to continually apply cleaner before each time I plugged it in. I got tired of stressing over whether she'll last the show, but as I said earlier, with distortion she was smoking hot! I replaced the pot with with a "Black Bear" 100K from Small Bear Electronics. That did it. No more "squish" or "scrape" when tying to play a low keyed, soulful progression. The only other comment I'd like to make is that the GCB-95F circuitry uses very sophisticated micro electronics. With the exception of the pot, inductor and a couple of capacitors there is very little that can be modified without some very specialized equipment.
Overall: I love it. It has a deeper, throatier warmth than my original Thomas wah. It like the batter compartment. It sucks when your battery kicks the bucket and you have to change it behind a dark stage. No more losing feet!
Playability and Feel: The action is very smooth. There is very little resistance but still there is enough grip hold it's place when you use the wah for screaming tone control.
Tone: Before I fixed it it was disappointing as I said. But that pot that I replace made the difference. I think that it is sad that Dunlop pots are known for their noise.
Finish: True to it's predecessors, the current production of Crybay Wah Pedals are tough. The GCB-95F is mostly the generic wah externally and because I like things from yesteryear so the look of the chassis is just fine for me
Action: Excellent. The sweep of the pot is superb. The switch gives you solid feedback. You'll know if you kicked it on or off.
Skill Level: Semi-Pro
