Along with the speed control there is a four-position rotary switch that selects four different intensities, defined as preset waveform patterns. Between the intensity and speed settings, you'll find quite a supply of excellent sounds tucked away in this orange casing. Sound: Very good. All-around pro sound in live situations. Unlike most modulation pedals, sounds best AFTER gain/drive/distortion pedals in your signal chain. Hard to get a bad sound outta this thing! Not as deep or wild as a small stone can be but not noisey either! Also inexpensive compared to a T-Rex or Pigtronix. Reliability: Have had mine 2 weeks but seems solid....like all MXR pedals. Overall: I bought this pedal from American Musical because I needed a Phaser that was useable in most any real live music situation. I have used other phasers over the years but needed more versatility than most others offer. You just can't beat Am. Musical's prices and customer service either! Playability and Feel: Easy to get the phase Freq. sweep and regeneration time I need for different songs. Tone: Finish: Very good orange paint job. Nothing cheap or sloppy about MXR pedals.
