Electro Voice ND767A Dynamic Vocal Microphone

The Electro Voice ND767a is one of the finest pro dynamic stage vocal mics you will find.
EV's famous clean, clear N/Dym sound quality has been fine-tuned to deliver their most accurate bass response ever. By tailoring the proximity effect (an increase in bass response as you move closer to the mic) with EV's Vocally Optimized Bass (VOB) technology, your vocals cut through the mix even more clearly. The 767a's high output and supercardioid polar pattern work together to practically eliminate feedback. Includes zippered gig bag and stand mount adapter.

  • Designed specifically for lead vocalists
  • Ideal for both live performance and in the recording studio
  • Large diaphragm N/DYM transducer for condenser-like sensitivity and frequency response
  • Superior multistage shock mount for unmatched low handling noise

The Electro-Voice N/D767, part of a new generation of N/DYM microphones, is designed for live performance or studio vocal recording. The N/D767 has been manufactured with refinements which enhance the sonic smoothness, improve gain-before-feedback and provide consistent performance with greater durability than earlier generations of N/DYM microphones. EV's microphone designers fashioned into the N/D767 a smooth, extended frequency response with a gentle rise in the mid-frequencies for the optimum vocal clarity found in studio- quality microphones. The N/D767 also features an outstanding neodymium-iron-boron magnetic structure that provides greater sensitivity and exceptional signal-to-noise ratio for improved recording quality. These features make the N/D767 the microphone of choice for the discriminating vocalist who demands a product that delivers studio-quality performance with a warm richness that enhances the voice.

The N/D767 features a highly effective humbucking coil is also used to cancel hum interference from lighting and other power sources.

N/DYM microphones feature EV's AcoustiDYM shock-mount system. This unique vibration isolating system works as a multistage device. At low frequencies, a rear sound wave cancels the diaphragm motion while, at high frequencies, the specially designed rubber shock mount isolates the transducer from motion. Combining AcoustiDYM with the elasto-meric Warm-Grip handle and the windscreen bumper produces an advanced technology, vibration isolating system which dramatically reduces all forms of handling noise for the most demanding situations.

The N/D767 has a supercardioid polar pattern which is unusually uniform with frequency, ensuring superior gain-before-feedback in live applications and provides superb acoustic isolation.

The N/D767 pop filter’s unique design utilizes a specially processed Acoustifoam filter to minimize wind noise and vocal P–pops. This design makes the pop filter an integral part of the microphone’s removable front grille assembly, allowing easy cleaning for continued top performance.

Operation
The N/D767’s low-frequency response varies with the distance of the sound source to the microphone. This is known as proximity effect. Maximum bass response is produced in close-up use with the microphone 1/4 inch from the sound source. Closer working distances, in addition to the N/D767’s supercardioid polar pattern, reduce the risk of sound-system feedback while preserving intelligibility.

By working closer to the microphone, the human voice will sound more robust. However, the significant bass boost provides an increase in overall microphone output level. The mixer gain may be proportionately reduced, resulting in a reduction of the system’s sensitivity to feedback caused by sound entering the microphone from the distant loudspeakers.

The dynamic element of the N/D767 will provide reliable operation in extreme temperature, humidity and other adverse conditions that would render typical condenser microphones useless. These N/D767 features will provide years of trouble–free operation.

Subject:Best Mic in Price Range
Overall: I've been using the 767a for 6 months in both live and home recording situations. I love this vocal mic; the only vocal mics I like better are hundreds of dollars more and out of my price range. I have put this mic through punishment (dropping it, etc.) and it keeps performing flawlessly. Great gain before feedback and detailed high end. A+++!

Subject:Very responsive & user friendly mic!
Overall: I have been using my N/D767a, for 18mths and now if I have to sing with another mic, I find that most mics won't pick my vocals up at the distance I'm used to sing with the EV. This can make a song sound VERY ordinary and can ruin a performance. It's like comparing a modern CD player to the old 8 track players of yesteryear.

Subject:A REALLY NICE SINGER FRIEND
Overall: I used this microphone on 31/01, after buying it. (obviously i tried it before .. in a studio, ^_-) and i found it fantastic. No larsens, no background noise.. and really simple to equalize. It works good together with a shure Beta 58, but my signal is higher ^_- and sound is cleaner. in conclusion: CHEAP, NICE, ANTI-SHOCK, POWERFUL.
