| It has a pretty solid feel and definitely looks like it could take some abuse. I would feel pretty comfortable taking this to gigs. Nice and heavy. | | Features:
| Velocity and aftertouch are really amazing for a product in this price range. | | Ease of Use:
| Easy as pie. Setup was basic, I was playing music with it half an hour after opening the box. | | Sound:
| Not applicable - it's just a controller. | | Action:
| I think this is more for guitar players, but it is very playable. | | Value:

| Built well & dependable! A little heavier than it's competition as well as a heavier key-action. | | Features:
| Most 49-key controllers don't offer near the controls that the Emu Xboard 49 does. Now, these controls (all of those pretty knobs) don't just work - you need to program them to do whatever you want them to do. If you learn how to assign them, it's great not having to go through different screens, menus & pull downs to change parameters -- just turn the knob!
This keyboard has after-touch, a heavier action, & it's overall weight is more than most of the competition as well. So, if you're not going to use the extra knobs and don't like heavier action, this is not the controller for you (don't waste your money when you would do better with one that sells for ~$100). If you do like these features, this is the keyboard for you and is a bargain!
USB or 3 AA batteries powers it. As well, it powers up with an a/c plug that's not included. Emu's website for a/c adapter: Voltage = 6VDC, Current = 300mA, Polarity = Positive & Plug Dimensions = 2.1mm Internal, 5.5 mm Outside. | | Ease of Use:
