Product Description

The Epiphone Limited Edition SG Custom Electric Guitar is truly one of the best guitar values you will find today. Every serious player wants an Epiphone SG and here's the real thing that sounds as good as it looks. The original SG not only rivaled guitars of its own era for sonic variety but also proved to be a sign of things to come. Hard rock, metal and scores of rockers embraced the original SG and made it a classic. Now, the Epiphone Limited Edition SG Custom gives you the sound and look of a real SG without the vintage price tag.

The SG Story

When the Epiphone SG or ‘Solid Guitar’ was introduced in 1961 as a replacement for the Les Paul, it was called the ‘fretless wonder’ for its low frets and fast action. The twin horn cutaway design was like nothing on the market and its light but balanced weight made it the perfect guitar for stage and studio work. Later '60s models introduced the SG with humbucker pickups, and since then, the Epiphone SG has become the go to guitar for artists like The Who's Pete Townshend, Tony Iommi, Paul Weller, AC/DC's Angus Young, Eric Clapton and Derek Trucks of the Allman Brothers Band.

What is your overall opinion of this product?
This is a nice guitar and a bargain for the money. The pick ups are lively and you can coax some nice tones from this axe.
What is your opinion of the quality of this product? How does it work for different genres of music?
Sounds good for rock but cleans up pretty well if you turn it down and kick off the distortion.
Heavy, fast, chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing?
The neck feels okay...nothing great, but it's not a $4000 guitar so that's something to keep in mind
How is the tone? Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick or thin?
Pick ups, as mentioned above are good. I'm only playing through a Johnson m50 combo amp and a Line 6 Spyder jam amp and it's got a good tone.
How did the stain or paint job look?
I love the color but the stain was not really uniform. If you look at the picture shown, on the inside of the cutaways you can see some of the lack of color. This was a bit disappointing but in no way a deal breaker. It's still a great looking guitar.
Did you get what you were expecting for the price? How does it compare to similar products in the same price range?
Very much worth the money and the limited edition on this color made it impossible to pass up.
How was the action out of the box?
The action was alright. If I was going to use it often, I'd probably get a complete set up with new strings.
