Epiphone EF500RA Masterbilt Acoustic Guitar

The Epiphone Masterbilt EF500RA Acoustic Guitar has such a great tone and feel, you will not want to put it down.
The Masterbilt EF500RA provides you with a solid Sitka spruce top along with solid rosewood back and sides that produces the ultimate sound in warmth, projection and clarity. The EF500RA is not only a joy to play, but also to behold. Building upon our successful EF500R we added a striking sunburst finish option and hundreds of individually hand fitted abalone binding strips to make sure this instrument looks as beautiful as it sounds. Built for the discriminating fingerstyle guitarist, the EF500RA features a parlor size body. The 1 3/4 inch nut completes the package, making this instrument a fingerstyle players dream. Other features include gold hardware, set mahogany neck, pearl diamond neck inlays and abalone binding for a stunning look that is bound to turn some heads.

Review by Peter S. Kohman in the March 2006 issue of Guitar World Acoustic Magazine. Here is what Peter had to say:

...The setup was perfect and the fretwork clean and well executed - it simply plays like a dream...

...The EF-500RA-VS is one fine instrument; the moderate price tag makes it even more impressive...

...Epiphone has created a true modern vintage guitar at a price that most players can justify...

...The company should be proud of this series and the EF-500RA-VS in particular,
as its sound and feel rival those of far more costly guitars. Masterbilt, indeed...

Subject:Absolutely Astounding Guitar!
Quality: USA-designed, and the guy who did it went to the Chinese factory to make sure the builders followed strict guidelines on making these things to exact spec. I was skeptical until I got it. The craftsmanship is amazing.
Reliability: Over time? I've had it a few months. So far its flawlessly reliable.
Overall: I am blown away by this. I am a "Gibson snob" and my main guitar is an SJ200. But the wider fretboard on this guitar, plus the sound, the neck feel, all have made this my go-to guitar now, even though nothing can truly replace my beloved Gibson.
Playability and Feel: The V-style neck is so comfortable. The thing plays like a dream, straight from the factory. No setup needed, it just played amazingly well. Fret work is flawless, too.
Tone: Punches right through, and this 000-sized body is LOUD! I mean its LOUD! Louder than my Gibson SJ200. It cuts through and sings!
Finish: Oh man, the finish is incredible. It looks like a vintage, antique guitar. The sunburst was done expertly, the inlay work rivals that of a Martin D-45, and the inlay is all over the thing. Its a lovely satin finish, and its just beautiful to look at.
Action: The setup on this guitar right out of the box could not have been better if I had paid my favorite luthier here in Nashville $75 to set it up for me.
Skill Level: Pro-Rock Star
