Epiphone AJ500ME Masterbilt Acoustic Electric Guitar

The Epiphone Masterbuilt AJ500ME acoustic electric guitar is an appointment-loaded music making machine with an overall value to price ratio that will make your head spin.
Never before have we seen such exquisite detail and styling on an instrument at this price. Beautifully crafted solid mahogany body with solid sitka spruce top produces incredibly detailed and warm sounds that are absolutely phenomenal. The rosewood fingerboard atop the mahogany set neck adds a certain sparkle that is sure to leave your audience in awe. Plus, with a nut width of a mere 1.68 inches, it is comfortable enough to play for hours. Based on Gibson’s classic slope shoulder Jumbo design, the AJ500ME can handle everything from power-rock rhythms to bluegrass leads. This model comes factory loaded with the eSonic2 system, so you can use it for your performances that require a little more volume than a standard acoustic has to offer.

Modern Masterbilts
Today’s Masterbilt Acoustic Series encompasses many of the most coveted aspects of fine guitar building for a remarkable price. Each Masterbilt guitar is constructed of the finest all solid tonewoods. The tops are braced using the 1930’s wide X bracing and extra deep scarfing to produce incredible resonance. The joints are hand fitted and glued using authentic hot hide glue, and the bridges and fingerboard are constructed of premium solid rosewood. The saddle is compensated bone, as is the nut. This premium construction is capped off with deluxe appointments including gold open backed tuners, a tapered headstock, mother-of-pearl inlays, and real abalone binding (on some models) to provide an instrument that is as impressive to look at as it is to play, feel, and hear.

Quality: It seems pretty sturdy. I usually try to buy American guitars for ethical reasons (it pisses me off when companies send stuff to China for cheap labor). But I wasn't about to drop 2k on an acoustic guitar. The mahogany is solid, the tuners seem sturdy.
Reliability: I've only had it for 3 weeks. But i play heavy-handed and it seems like it's gonna hold up.
Overall: I played all of the laminate and compressed wood Martins in this price range. F that. This Epi sounds just as good as all of those and it's made of real mahogany, so it will only sound better with age.
Playability and Feel: The guitar is very light. Sweet melodies have been writing themselves since it's landed in my lap - the neck is very fast and easy to play.
Tone: The tone booms - it's both bright and deep. It's stupid loud. I seriously think it plays better and sounds better than all of the new, over-priced Gibson acoustics.
Finish: I got the sunburst with silver hardware. It's gorgeous (but not gaudy or tacky).
Action: Fantastic. It was medium low and perfect for my style. Mind you, I play and write indie rock/pop. So I do a lot of chunky chords as well as a lot of fast picking stuff and it works for both.
