Epiphone Les Paul Ultra Electric Guitar

Epiphone Les Paul Ultra Electric Guitar

The Epiphone Les Paul Ultra brings a new twist to a true rock guitar icon. At first glance, it might look the same, but it's not. The Ultra is loaded with hot alnico classic humbuckers. Its mahogany body has strategically placed hollow cavities resulting not only in a lighter guitar (about 5.5 lbs) but also a more acoustic sounding guitar. Additionally, there is a belly-contour on the back of the guitar that allows it to comfortably hug your body. Add to that a slightly narrower nut (42mm as opposed to 43mm) with a very fast, satin finish neck and you've got an Ultra friendly instrument that just feels great!

First rate quality control. Have had 3 shipped to my house and all three were as perfect as could be. I only sent one back and only because the quilt pattern wasn't to my liking... so now you know how picky I can be. Every guitar that comes into my home, I look over in bright light and up close to look for ANY imperfections. These guitars really pass the inspection. Even the gold plating was wonderful, which is an area where a lot of brands can drop the ball.

FEATURES:
Features are, for the most part, standard Les Paul. The biggest departure being the chambered sections INSIDE the guitar.

EASE OF USE:
This guitar makes me sound better than I really am... just love it. Currently, I have 12 guitars and the Ultra is by far my favorite of the bunch. Comes with a pretty decent setup right from the factory, and the action was quite low. With some tweaking, you can get precisely the action that you're aiming for. The knobs

I got this Epi Ultra to see what the hype was on the body type/design. This axe in no way compares to the level of my Gibson Les Paul Classic, but it will do as a backup guitar... the lighter body is indeed nice. Stock pickups are a bit muddy, the neck PU offers more mellow tone than the bridge one. I will probably replace them down the road. The satin finish neck feels low-quality, kind of cheap almost. Maybe it is just taking me time to get used to.

FEATURES:
Best features, finish, hardware, slightly acoustic tone and lightweight body. I'd change the pickups and neck finish.

EASE OF USE:
I had to have major adjustments (neck, bridge, etc.) done after this guitar arrived, including having the nut grooves widened to fit other guage strings (!). The intonation is still not 100%.

VALUE:
I would not pay any more for this Epi, let's put it that way.

SOUND:
I'm still trying to tease out this g

Subject:A Les Paul to the Gods!
Overall:

QUALITY:
I've been playing this guitar for a while and this is the best les paul I've ever played! Better than most of the $3,000 Gibsons if my opinion means anything.

FEATURES:
The only thing this guiar needs is a pair of straplocks. That way you know it would be safe during stage performance.

EASE OF USE:
This is the most versitile guitar I've ever played. Plays the most beautiful clean riffs along with a distorted tone that will melt even the biggest metal head's face off!

VALUE:
I would have gladly paid over $3,000 but at the current price it's well worth the price. I think epiphone is actually losing money on this deal. Grab it while you can!

SOUND:
Clear leads, crushing low notes, and beautiful cleans.
"It doesn't get any better than this! I placed an order on the weekend with 1/3 down payment and received the equipment two days later. Fantastic!"
