| Subject: | Angus would be proud!!!!! |
| Quality:
| I would consider this to be a well made product. |
| Sound:
| The pickups on this surpass those on my Epiphone Les Paul Studio and have more of a brighter and crisp tone and don't sound as muddy. I really didn't need to adjust these at all. They sound just great and are perfect for Classic rock and Metal. This is probably the best sounding guitar that I've ever had! |
| Reliability:
| I baby all of my gear and do routine maintenance checks on a frequent basis, so this should last me a lifetime. It seems to be very well made. I couldn't find any faults other than the lack of a proper setup. |
| Overall:
| I just got this 2 days ago as part of a trade, and buy oh boy, am I glad I did! This guitar is just as good as it's Gibson counterpart. The only thing I had to do was give it a setup because the prior owner didn't know anything about Guitar care, but thank god it was a relatively new model (2009) and he only had it for a couple of weeks. Once I set it up and checked the intonation, it was ready to go! |
| Playability and Feel:
| This guitar is built for speed, once you get used to the slightly thicker neck. It is neck heavy though, so you have to be careful not to let it drop or you'll stand a good chance of breaking it. |
| Tone:
| This is without a doubt, the best sounding guitar that I have ever owned, even surpassing my favorite, The Fender Strat, and that is saying a lot! |
| Finish:
| The Cherry red finish is awesome, what more can I say? |
| Action:
| As I stated, I had to do a intonation check and a setup, and once I did that, the action was at a nice low level on the neck which enables me to do some serious bends with ease and also without going out of tune. |

| Subject: | Follow Up Review |
| Quality:
| First off I have the faded finish version of this guitar. It wouldnt let me do a second review so im doing it here. I want to make this very clear, I have owned many guitars from many different companies and this is BY FAR, the best constructed best sounding most beautiful guitar regardless the price. Epi has totally out-done themselves with a great budget axe that leaves nothing out. Quality wise for this price,.. completely outstanding!! |
| Reliability:
| I hope for a long time. |
| Overall:
| little to no fret buzz, good weight, nice inlays. |
| Playability and Feel:
| its got a fast and slim neck. Just like a real Gibson SG. |
| Tone:
| This is where I was impressed. Almost every other guitar in its price range had crap for pick-ups. The 57-m and Hot B pick-ups are a killer combo with great versatility. I feel like im playing a vintage SG and then when I set it down I remember,... Oh yeah, I only spent $300. :) Whats better than that? |
| Finish:
| The flat finish looks great,,... to me anywayz. |
| Action:
| Needed a little setting up.. what guitar doesnt? |

| Subject: | OH YA!!!!!! |
| Quality:
| This SG is well made, hardware is not premiere but very good, good enough to handle aggressive playing. |
| Sound:
| Very good clarity, volume and tone controls are very useful. |
| Reliability:
| Built well, don't expect any problems |
| Overall:
| I own about every style guitar but have never had an SG so decided it was time. I fully intended to get a Gibson SG. The ones I tried were just OK, almost changed my mind but decided to try the Epiphone. It was one of the best looking and playing guitars I have ever tried. If you must have Gibson on the headstock then you will never be able to appreciate the goodness of this Epi. |
| Playability and Feel:
| The neck has a nice wide playing surface but would not call it chunky. The edges are rolled over just right and there is enough width to keep the E strings from sliding off the edges while playing. One of the best necks I have ever played. I suggest going to a store to pick one out. The one I found may be a holy grail, a lot of the reviews I have found are less flattering than mine so go see one in person.... |
| Tone:
| Versatile is the key word. You can have plenty of snap full up, turn the tone and volume down a bit and you can get warm, smooth, bluesy sounds. |
| Finish:
| Finish is stunning, one sexy axe. I found only one very small finish run. This could easily be buffed out but it is very minor, I have bought much more expensive guitars with a lot more issues. |
| Action:
| Action was good, a few minor tweaks and it can be made better. |

| Reliability:
| It's still standing. Had it for six years now. |
| Overall:
| Excellent price, plays extremely well, it's light and the neck pickup alone sounds better than most other guitars I've played that cost four times as much. The action is incredibly, I would go as far as to say it's more comfortable to play than most Gibson models. I will admit I replaced the neck pickup with a Dirty Fingers because it was given to me, but the original was good as well. The clean on this is crystal clear (especially in middle position) and the with the dirty fingers sounds great for lead and the neck is crunchy and phat... great for rhythm and what have you. Awesome guitar you cannot go wrong and it looks way better than the picture here gives it justice. |
| Playability and Feel:
| light, and the neck is slim, not a baseball bat |
| Tone:
| Stock pickups are great, the neck impressed me |
| Finish:
| Beautiful, looks classy and more expensive than it really is. |
| Action:
| Superb, just as good as my Dean from hell |
