Epiphone

The Epiphone Les Paul Special II growls as through Epiphone 700T and 650R ceramic humbuckers as you plug it into their new Studio 15R guitar amp, with more power (15 watts) as well as an 8 inch speaker and built-in Reverb. The Special II Performance Package also includes a gig bag, strap, cord, picks, quartz tuner and instructional DVD. The Epiphone Les Paul Special II features a fat and nasty humbucker tone at a great price.

With two humbuckers and a basswood body, it's easy to see why that's so true. There really hasn't been a Les Paul deal like this in a long time. The Les Paul Special II also features a mahogany neck, a rosewood fingerboard with dot inlays, volume and tone control and nickel hardware.

The Les Paul guitar is synonymous with Rock and Roll. No other guitar gives you the power, the sustain and the sound of a Les Paul. Accept no substitutes! Authorized by Gibson USA!

Lock Tone
The Lock Tone Tune-O-Matic bridge and Stopbar tailpiece are standard equipment on all Epiphone guitars with a tune-o-matic setup. From their Custom Les Pauls right down to the Special II, Epiphone knows that tuning stability and sustain can make or break a guitar so it’s important to have a dependable bridge you can trust.

Quality
Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable?
Extremely well made for the price range, I mean it's not a Les Paul but a good clone of one.
Reliability
How has it stood up over time?
Just got it so I can't attest to it's durability but it's a Epiphone so I'm assuming it was made with quality in mind.
General
Your general opinion of this product.
Overall I think this quite a package, especially if you are just starting out or like myself getting back into it after putting it down many years ago. It has everything you need to get going.
Playability and Feel
How does it feel, Heavy, Fast, Chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing?
Well one thing you can expect with a Gibson style Guitar, it's a little heavier and the neck a little wider but I already knew that going in. It is great to play, good action, controls are simple (there are only 2), feels great and feels sturdier.
Tone
Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin?
Has a mellow and soft tone, you can overcome that though with a little tweeking on the amp if you're into the grungier or snappier sound. I personally prefer the Darker, mellower sound.
Finish
How did the stain or paint job look?
Not even a smudge on the finish, I was worried because the shipping box took a beating but it was well packed. Not so much as a ding anywhere on the merchandise.
Action
How was the action out of the box?
Well after some tuning, it was ready to go out of the box. Maybe I'd suggest changing the strings out before too long but out of the package it's ready to go.
