I seriously considered buying one in the mid 80s but choose a Jackson Soloist (long gone!) instead. I wish I picked the Steinberger and still had it. This guitar was 1/2 the price of the real ones back then and sure plays nice. Sound: Excellent within its limitations Reliability: So far so good, have it about a year, once set up right it plays great Overall: Great guitar, super value, unique style Playability and Feel: I love how this guitar plays! I've had some left hand pain issues over the years, so I'm really sensitive to neck feel. This one just works for me, not too thin, super fast. The control access is fine, I like the height of the bridge too as a hand rest and the easy access to the tuners with the right hand. Tone: The pick ups are very hot. It's hard to get a good clean sound, but that is what Strats are for. With distortion this guitar screams. Finish: Can of spray paint finish quality, one of the guitars few detractions. A few blemishes in the finish, but so what? The flat black looks cool and you will not worry about getting a scratch on it. Action: OK - needed a few sessions of tweaking to get the action, just right.
