The Direct Sound EX-25 Extreme Isolation Headphones were invented by a studio session drummer because of the need for serious isolation! Not only are these great for home studios, stage and studio musicians, and anyone else who needs isolated sound, these headphones are found on film and video location sound sets the world over.

What makes them so extreme?
We use specially designed earmuffs that passively attenuate surrounding sound by a comfortable average of 28 decibels throughout the sound spectrum. Subject:Beware! Not Right For Every Head!
Quality: Since these headphones are designed to fit tightly on the head, they sqeeze very hard. This would be fine, as the pressure of the pads on the ears is good, but the bar across the top above the pads places pressure on my head behind the temples which causes pain....especially after prolonged use. I have a "normal" round head, so maybe someone with more of a cone shaped head would not feel this. The design could be improved by either arching the band to a more round radius and/or placing padding all the way around the bottom of the band. These seem to be made pretty well, at least as good if not better than any other $50 headphone.
Features: I like the rubber lined foam as opposed to the leatherette pads many other headphones use (which wear out quickly and get flaky). Includes the 1/8" to 1/4" adapter with a convenient clip to prevent adapter loss. Long cable. The sound is very neutral and flat....though for a tracking headphone (as these are) I prefer something with a bit of high and low emphasis.
Ease of Use: Put them on and go.
Value: If they fit your head well, these are a bargain.
