Cant Believe How Great It Sounds
What is your overall opinion of this product?
This guitar exceeded my expectations. Its sounds unbelievable. My friends are jealous.
What is your opinion of the quality of this product? How does it work for different genres of music?
The buying process with AMS was seamless. It arrived quickly and in perfect condition. The renowned quality of an American Strat holds true. I decided to go with the HSS for a little more versatility and it definitely is. This guitar sounds better than anything I have ever played.
Heavy, fast, chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing?
Even the humbucker is still pretty stratty, which is what I was hoping for, given that I hadn't played the HSS before. You're not going to pull off any death metal with it. The gloss finish on the neck was beautiful yet, as I have gotten used to a natural unfinished neck, it can feel a little sticky. Strats, to me, aren't the easiest guitars to play but the sound that comes out of them balances that out. I checked all of the screws for tightness when it arrived. The four neck plate screws weren't quite as tight as they needed to be but after a fresh assembly and a month or two in a warehouse this was no cause for concern. I also tightened the tremolo springs because it was pulling the tremolo up when making hard bends, basically making it harder to do them. I don't know if thats how strats are supposed to be setup, if they ship it like that to keep neck stress low, or if the new springs just settled. As I said I'm no strat guru. Regardless it plays great and I love it.
How is the tone? Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick or thin?
It sounds like a stratocaster. Nice and quacky. The pickups sound high quality. The neck pickups sound really bluesy.
How did the stain or paint job look?
The tobacco sunburst finish was flawless. I could find no imperfections.
Did you get what you were expecting for the price? How does it compare to similar products in the same price range?
I feel like I got my moneys worth. Definitely the nicest guitar I own.
How was the action out of the box?
Nice and smooth. I was able to lower the action a little bit. Using light EVH strings that stay in tune with heavy tremolo usage.
