Very Cool Instrument!
Quality
Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable?
I generally only buy American made instruments. Since this is kind of a niche instrument I didn't want to spend several thousand dollars on an original. The quality is very nice. The paint is flawless and the wood used for the neck looks like something from the American Standard series. I had a Schecter Hellcat and it's much better. The 5 way feels a little cheap and the bridge (not trem) metal looks a little below what I would like but my thoughts are it will be fine.
Features
What do you consider to be the best features of this product? What features would you add to this product if you could?
It stays in tune, the trem works and the pickups sound great. If I could change things I would like to have three jaguar pickups, the chrome control plate and the three Jaguar switches (ideally I would like 4 but that would mean a custom part which may drive price up) with switches instead of the 5 way. I would really like to see a hard shell case and Fender branded Bass VI strings at a reasonable price
General
Your general opinion of this product.
I think it's really cool that this hard to find niche instrument is out for under $1000. Usually Bass VI reissues are very expensive and never made in USA unless it's CS and $4000 or so. This is great. Hopefully they make a XII next!
Tone
Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin?
It depends on what amp you're running through. All settings are good!
Finish
How did the stain or paint job look?
Fantastic! I got the CAR because I like the matching headstock. The fact that it's the same price made it a no brainer.
