Really cool vintage bass
What is your overall opinion of this product?
Overall, it's nice. It's not an American Standard, it's not $1,500.00. Considering the price, it's a great buy. I would say that in order to get the right tones from this bass, you'll need to change the tone capacitor to a .047, preferably an orange drop type of cap. Otherwise, when you turn the town control down, it's still a bit mid-rangey and clanky. If you need P-bass thud, change the cap and you should be OK. Otherwise, a nice vintage Telecaster bass neck. Nice and thick, (almost 1.75 at the nut) and a true C shaped back. It seems like the pole pieces are not spaced quite as wide as they should be for the bridge. There is a bit of space between the edge of the neck and the G string. It's not bad, abt 3/32 wider than it should be. String spacing is good. Volume difference between strings is hardly noticeable. If you really want to hop it up, get a TV Jones Thundertron BRIDGE pu in it. For $125.00, it's a great hop-up. It's pretty decent as it is from the factory, tho.
