That Grape Ape
My Go To Bass
What is your overall opinion of this product?
This is a really solid built P-bass, and has very good output.
What is your opinion of the quality of this product? How does it work for different genres of music?
I think the quality is really good. Not boutique, but still good.
Are the features on the product what you were expecting? What are your favorite features?
Don't be alarmed by the 3 on features. It is still a P-bass. One tone, one volume and an input jack. With that said, it is still incredible. The brass nut and maple neck are a great combination. I did replace the black saddles with brass saddles. It was purely a look I wanted. The original bridge is still there, I only removed the black saddles so that the new ones would match the brass nut.
Heavy, fast, chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing?
I love the feel of a P-bass, and this one is no exception.
How is the tone? Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick or thin?
I have mine strung up with flats, and it is a great tone. It was brighter than my USA Standard with round wound strings.
How did the stain or paint job look?
No flaws noticed. Black!
Did you get what you were expecting for the price? How does it compare to similar products in the same price range?
I was a bit apprehensive with a MIM bass being so close to a $1000, but was still very pleased in the end.
How was the action out of the box?
Action was a bit high for my taste, but it was intonated and I was shocked to see that outside of a USA made bass. I just lowered the action a bit and was rockin!
