Product Description

The Fender Geddy Lee Jazz Bass gives you the exact look and incredible tone of Rush’s legendary bassist’s instrument of choice that he’s used on countless tours and massively popular albums. The Geddy Lee signature Jazz bass has an alder body, thin one-piece C-shaped maple neck and a maple fingerboard with distinctive black binding and black rectangular position markers.

Two vintage Jazz Bass single-coil pickups bring this signature Fender bass to life with great cutting tone. Other features on the Geddy Lee J-bass include chrome hardware, vintage-style tuners and a Badass Bass II bridge.

Like this better than my old Japanese made Geddy
General
What is your overall opinion of this product?
So much fear over Mexican made Fenders these days, but I actually think this one is build better and plays better than my old Japanese made Geddy Lee bass.
Quality
What is your opinion of the quality of this product? How does it work for different genres of music?
Sunburst finish is flawless on this one, fret edges are smooth, stays in tune.
Features
Are the features on the product what you were expecting? What are your favorite features?
Bad ass bridge, block inlays, and an super thin neck for less than a grand. Hard to best that.
Feel
Heavy, fast, chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing?
The thin neck is smooth, comfortable, and fast to get around on.
Tone
How is the tone? Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick or thin?
The Geddy has a really cool midrange growl to it when you dig in with both pickups on full. It can get quite P bass like with the neck pickup featured. A little too thin and nasally with the bridge pickup soloed for my tastes however.
Finish
How did the stain or paint job look?
Sunburst finish is flawless on this one. Looks great with the black pickguard. Out of all the guitars and basses I own, everybody seems to be drawn to the look of this one.
Value
Did you get what you were expecting for the price? How does it compare to similar products in the same price range?
You are getting a whole lot of bass for less than 900 bucks.
Playability
How was the action out of the box?
Here's the only negative I can give the bass. The action was horrendously high out of the box, and it's a real pain to adjust the truss rod on these as you'll have to take the pickguard off to do it. Also, I had to order an allen wrench to adjust the string height as the ones Fender provides do not fit the smaller Bad Ass Bridge.
