Product Description

Just like Marcus Miller himself, the Fender Marcus Miller Jazz V 5 String Electric Bass Guitar is soulful and astounding. This signature Jazz bass has an ash body, distinctive black pickguard/control plate, one-piece C-shaped maple neck, and a 7.25 inch-radius maple fingerboard with white binding and white pearl block inlays, setting this bass apart in tone and looks! Great tone comes from a pair of custom vintage-style Jazz Bass single-coil pickups and an 18-volt active preamp; the two-band active EQ has an active/passive mini-toggle switch.

I Love My New Fender Marcus Miller Jazz 5
What is your overall opinion of this product?
I was very impressed when I opened the box and saw the classic Fender case! I was more impressed with my new Fender Jazz bass! It looks and feels like a bass should.
What is your opinion of the quality of this product? How does it work for different genres of music?
I have owned many "non-American made" Fender basses over the years (mainly because of the cheaper price). I really have to say, you get what you pay for! The American made Fender basses cost more, but they are made much better.
Are the features on the product what you were expecting? What are your favorite features?
Yes, the features are everything I expected. My favorite feature is over-all feel of the bass. It looks great too.
Heavy, fast, chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing?
The neck is great. I used to play a seven string bass so this neck really feels good. The controls are easy to reach.
How is the tone? Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick or thin?
The tone is hot! The picks really do their job. Its all up to the musician to adjust his sound. I play all kinds of music and this bass is well suited for the job.
How did the stain or paint job look?
The paint job is superb. I "wipe it down" after practice or after a gig to keep it looking good.
Did you get what you were expecting for the price? How does it compare to similar products in the same price range?
I have to say I was very disappointed because American Musical was offering this same bass for $2,069.99 back in Nov. of 2012 (and I can prove it). Now they are charging $230.00 more! I'm a Marcus Miller fan and I knew this bass was worth the extra money. In comparison, this bass is a step-up from other basses in this price range.
How was the action out of the box?
The action was perfect! It made me feel better about paying that extra $230.00!
