Just as good as MIM if not better
Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable?
Very well made. I've had lots of squier VM basses, and I regret selling them. This one is a keeper. Very dependable.
What do you consider to be the best features of this product? What features would you add to this product if you could?
The best feature is the Duncan Design pickups. That's a lot of what you're paying for. Very versatile. I would, however, add a thicker lacquer finish on the neck. Personal preference though.
Your general opinion of this product.
My general opinion of this product is that everyone should give it a try. It's high great in quality as long as you can get by the squier logo on the headstock.
Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin?
The tone has a wide range with this instrument. Picks up lows and highs equally as well.
How did the stain or paint job look?
The paint job is immaculate. A beautiful burst finish. Aesthetically flawless. Really looks like an old 60's jazz. Love it!

Subject: More than a "Starter Bass"!!
Discussion: Made in Indonesia model, you would be hard pressed to tell the difference in feel between this and its big brother Fender version. Pickups sound great! Nice satin finish neck ... hand slides easily. Arrived set up quite nicely, easy to play ... I bought the "scratch and dent" and cannot find anything wrong on the base, saved 60 bucks, DO IT if one becomes available, you won't regret it. Finally, the wood finish looks PRO, really nice. I CANNOT believe I got this base for 219 bucks. Thanks American Musical!!
