Product Description

The Squier Vintage Modified Precision Bass TB is so utterly blazing that you should probably wear sunglasses when looking directly at it. It pumps out oceans of ’70s-era Telecaster Bass cool and seismic low end thanks to that big ol' Fender-designed humbucking pickup right there at the neck. To say nothing of its classic string-through, dual brass-saddle bridge and gorgeous sunburst-over-ash-veneer finish.

Amazing Sound and Quality for the Price!
Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable?
Ah yes. The quality. As I noted earlier, the one and only bad thing I can say about this bass is that the finish is a bit cheap... but that's the last thing in the world I'm worried about. The internal wiring could be a little less "angel hair" as well, but I've had no problems with the electronics, so... Here's the thing about this bass: The *overall* quality is AMAZING, particularly for it's price point. I also own a '99 MIM Jazz Bass, and I'd get rid of that one before I got rid of this bass. The funny thing is that Fender now makes a Chinese-manufactured Telecaster bass in it's Modern Player series, charges $300 more for it, and I guarantee you the quality is no better than this Indonesian Squier model. The only difference between the two (besides the Squier being Basswood and the Fender being Alder) is that the Fender has a bridge pickup as well as the neck, but hey- that kind of defeats the purpose of being a Telecaster Bass because Tele basses only had a single pickup. In fact,
What do you consider to be the best features of this product? What features would you add to this product if you could?
Not much in the way of features, but this is a single pickup, passive bass. It has exactly what it needs- a volume control and a tone control.
Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin?
See above.... I will use this field to convey one thought. When I first got this bass, it seemed like if I hit a string a bit hard, the note was overdriven, causing that "farting" sound. I couldn't figure out why this was happening at forst. I did some research and realized that the humbucker in this thing has an output of 22k!! For reference, a J-Bass pickup output is 7k and a P-Bass's 11k. So I only needed to do one thing to fix the issue- lower the pickup! Now it's perfect!
How did the stain or paint job look?
This is the one and only area in which this bass could have been significantly better, IMO. The finish is very beautiful, but it seems the paint is very thin... Maybe not enough coats? The reason I mention this is because I've accidentally chipped the paint off in two spots with alarming ease. It's as if the protective finish isn't very protective or the paint is too thin.
